Re-watched fight: New Analysis on Ortiz/Peterson

I'm going to have to agree with Pullcounter on this one. Ortiz was way bigger, stronger, and he did a fair amount of holding, and rough housing himself. I mean this is boxing for heaven's sake, and Ortiz just doesn't have the heart right now to close out fights he should win comfortably. Maybe he needs a new trainer or something but he doesn't have that hunger.

He was bigger and stronger, but looked to be a lot slower thanks to what seems to be him being weight drained. And even if that wasn't the case, round 3, 4, 5, and 10 was how he should have been fighting, but Peterson's holding looked to be getting annoying to him, and he tried to avoid it by staying on the outside and trying to make Peterson come to him. But becuz he was (I think he was anyway) weight drained, he was a lot slower and left himself open to be countered.

Ortiz is very young at 23 taking on guys like Maidana and Peterson who are among the best at 140 and would give any one a tough fight.

Ortiz is a heartless chump. I had him pegged as a phony when he quit against Maidana and threw his hands up in defeat.

His career is finished, as I don't think he has the heart for this sport and I do not think he is hungry or interested in being a fighter anymore.

Was at Mandalay Bay Event Center last night, good fights.

The first 5 rounds, Ortiz clearly won 3 rounds but 2 rounds could have gone either way. Round 6-10, it can be either all for Peterson or 4 rounds to Perterson and 1 could have gone either way.

Ortiz was effective when he was attacking and it was mostly during the first half of the fight. But on the later rounds, Ortiz didn't do much attacking.

Peterson from about the 4th or 5th round, he was getting his rhtym, being effective with jabs. Lamont was also landing the more cleaner shots. It might have bothered Ortiz in the later rounds cuz Victor didn't attack much.

A draw is fair and there should be a rematch.

i doubt a rematch happens.....

even though peterson was down he still proved that he is a threat......

Yeah, but that doesn't mean anything to me. I wasn't involved. I just know from my own personal experience in matches both in wrestling and boxing the water weight on fight night meant little to nothing.

c'mon man you can't compare YOUR experiences with world class boxers. that's like fishing for perch and saying you know what it's like to catch marlins.

At least this Peterson didn't resort to low blows like his brother did. He threw bombs and even managed to wobble Ortiz.

His brother did fight Brandon Rios, didn't he?
