Why did Cortez take a point away from Maidana? It looked to me that Maidana turned his back in disgust on Cortez and Cortez was offended and deducted the point. Guy is imcompetant, plain and simple..

What had me puzzled was that KHAN got this in the bag readily after he KD'ed Maidana with a left hook that ribs in the early round...he did combinations, he did everything right, except for one thing:

      • JAB!!!

He must learn to use this to keep Maidana at bay instead of running around and then going into a Clottey shell only to get hit with Maidana's opportunistic uppercuts and hooks.

WHY would he not keep Maidana at bay and then struggle to face him and wait to get hit? Unless he was hurt but then he could have at least:

      • HIT AND RUN

A la' Ali if you will. Aside from that, Khan did farely well landing timely flush punches. 2 to 3 hit combinations at the average. But no defense and JABBING is a defensive weapon to do just that and stop Maidana on his tracks as he chase Khan.

Big improvements for Khan in his offensive repertoire while Maidana didn't really offer anything other than bullrush Khan and though landing and almost KOing Khan it was mainly because of Khan's carelessness in letting Maidana rush into him.

Rematch is in the order of the day but I would like to see Khan JAB, and JAB some more.

      THEN CLINCH.

He could have shut out Maidian if he knows how to JAB and CLINCH. The throw combinations in between.

The most credible comment so far in this thread. I had a deja vu feeling like it was the Pac-Marg fight lol. Khan does not have the consistency of Manny or the chin but he got lucky tonight and he needs to evaluate what the hell he was trying to prove during the fight.

Cortez also kept separating Maidana when Khan clinched even though Maidana had a free arm to punch. Roy Jones Jr. kept saying let the two fight but Cortez was being a ***** because I think he was paid off by Roach to keep separating the fighters when Maidana was close.

He elbowed Cortez. Not sure why or if he knew it was Cortez and not Khan or what. It didn't look hard, but on the Sky TV coverage they showed the replay of it.

We could have seen a repeat of what Angulu did to that one guy (who was it again?) if the ref didn't seperate them. Khan was holding and was getting ass punched. He could have let go anytime he wanted if didn't want to get hit anymore.

agree, still wikid fightshould have used his jab more, kind of reverted back to old ways, still what an amazing fight.

cortez this cortez that hes a ref have u ever seen cortez ref before??????amateurs

khan deserved it but maidana is a rock what a fighter if he beats whoever wins between brad and alex then he should fight him again coz that was fantastic. If he would have had more energy he could have taken maidana, anytime he attacked maidana looked phased but regardless two warriors had an amazing fight

Give it a rest you emotional biatch. Maidana got a bad hand again and Amir can thank Cortez for helping him out but Cortez has always been like that and the general view before the fight was that Cortez will help Amir.

Fabie, a BoxingScene LEGEND lol. Where the hell was that jab tonight? Khan got caught up in the hype and the knock down in the first would not have helped matters. I don't care what people say but Khan showed he can take a punch, but why on earth just stay on the ropes after regaining composure and throwing his arms in the air like Manny
