This is why I don't get people hanging onto Roaches comments on who Manny is or isn't facing.

Dude is only a trainer and has little say in Manny's opponent selection.

FWIW If it was up to Freddy they would have never faced Margarito in the fall as see by him bashing the fight at first, then turning into a "good employee" and saying that there is nothing wrong with facing Margarito.

agreed with most of the people here, this fight has an extremely low probability of happening due to the obvious discrepancy with their physique. but if pac decides to do it, he surely will gain alot of respect even from many people. but i would say, if he ever fights at 154-155, it would be the last division he can go. he cant fight beyond that and it would be utter nonsense. crazily nonsense.

Man listen up....I'm not here to bash you or any other posters so I'm going to reply in a non-flaming manner:

Arum and Top Rank aren't gonna let some promoters, who are "half-assing" on there duties, to make money off of them. That is why he offered dibella a buyout so he could do the **** himself. I respect the **** outta that move because when is the last time dibella put together a huge event....let alone one that did big numbers PPV wise?

Martinez and Berto are just as exciting of a fighters as most of the guys at Top Rank, and for them to sell as ****ty as they do is a disgrace.

Why even break bread with guys who can't even do there job right.....such as Shaw and Dibella. That's a business move and those dudes got treated accordingly. Top Rank will make the fights, but only if they have control over the events....unless your GBP, another company who has a great track record themselves.

If you can't understand this....then I really don't know what else to tell you.

Bob says "what does he expect the MW champion to do, lose an arm"? No Bob, we expect the new MW champion and FORMER (career) LMW champion to fight for his old title AT 154 against the newly crowned 154 CHAMPION. YES ladies and gents, that is what boxing is all about. The best fighting the best. There is a NEW LMW champion and a former LMW champion. The former Champion is "calling out" the new champion, WTF is the problem? THERE ARE NO EXCUSES. It's not anyone's fault HOW Pac "won" the 154 title. It's not Martinez, It's not mine, It's not yours, it's not Mayweather's (as i'm sure SOMEONE out there is blaming him). Its nobodies fault but Pac's. He cherry picked a career cheating WW who had been exposed to fight for a vacant JMW title. That is not are problem. The problem is Pac is now saying he's too small for JMW when a REAL JMW wants HIS title back.

Now its time to man up and earn that 154 title or back down and take the lashing like the bytch that cherry picked subpar fighters and ducks the best out there. It's only a fact that Pac is ducking the best AT 154 (MArtinez), AT 147 (Berto) and 140 (JMM, Bradley, Alexander) to fight a non ranked WW who's last fight was AT 154 and hasn't won a single fight since January 2009. There is no argument about it. Its just facts. When Mosley (fighter of 5 years AGO) is "picked" to fight Pac next, my point will be validated. Not to mention Cotto next year AT 154..... Still no Martinez?

So is Pac "too small" or "too big" now. I don't know what excuse to use? I guess it depends on what fighter from 140 to 154 is being talked about.

Very true Wess. Pac is too small to defend the bogus title he just won but too big too fight @ 140 even though he easily weighs in @ 144. Dude is caught in his own BS with no where to run. I don't care what anyone says I truly feel Pac never intended to fight PBF. It was all BS.

Lets also not forget that in late 2009 he was "too small" to fight for the WW title AT 147.... and now he's demanding a JWW to fight AT WW and if that JWW wont "move up" Pac will fight a non ranked WW who's 40 years old?

                      2008 - Manny Pacquiao v David Diaz

1999 - Arum previously denies, but later admits (under oath) during a Federal racketeering trial that he bribed the International Boxing Federation President by paying him $100,000 in order to get the IBF to sanction a George Foreman fight.

1995 - Arum is penalized $125,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for a bribe to get one of his fighters a higher ranking

** It must be noted that the other promoters identified in the Federal sting were New Jersey based promoter Dino Duva, who admitted paying a $25,000 bribe, promoter Cedric Kushner admitted paying $100,000 in bribes and Promoter Don King who was on video tape "regularly" paying for rankings for his fighters.

As the former Harvard Law Student and Federal prosecutor would do in trying to make a case, I am trying to establish a pattern. The pattern is that Bob Arum has been and continues to keep his fighters fighting "in-house," as other promoters call him, "In-House Bob." Quite fitting I believe. The other is to establish the corrupt nature of the promoter, specifically for this article, Bob Arum.
Bob Arum takes 26% of Manny's and other fighters' purse and as long as Manny and other Top Rank fighters continue to fight Top Rank fighters, Bob will continue to take in upwards up 52% of the total fight purse.
While this may sound like good business to some of you, the fact that there are very good candidates in other promotional companies that would give Manny Pacquiao and other Top Rank belt holders a very good fight, and would actually display some lateral movement, probably scares old Bob.
I for one believe that Andre Berto should be the fighter who is next in line for Manny. (I obviously would like to see the fight that the rest of the world would like to see, but let's put that debate aside for now). However, after watching Berto's last performance, I'm sure Bob does not want to take that chance. This is the same reason that Bob recently turned down $5 million for a Sergio Martinez v Miguel Cotto match. Bob knows that Miguel would lose his WBA belt and would rather match him up with another Top Rank fighter so as to pad his pockets more and keep a belt-holder in the stable, regardless of the outcome. It's a win-win for Bob, but nothing but a losing scenario for fight fans. And now with Shane Mosley all but signed to Top Rank, maybe just for a Pacquiao fight, Manny will surely fight another Top Rank fighter.
The below is a recent quote from Bob regarding the backlash from fans and bloggers regarding a match-up between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley...

"I don't care. I don't care what the so-called boxing fans and bloggers have to say. I really don't."

You don't care? You don't care about the people that spend their hard-earned money, especially in these historically bad economic times? Who do you think pays to watch your fights?

The below quote is Bob's take on HBO and Showtime putting together fights on their own. (only because Arum proposed fights that neither company wanted to put up money for, I'm guessing they were all Top Rank fighters if I follow history)

"Instead of working with promoters, like they have done in the past, they have become promoters themselves. They make the fights just like promoters and pay fighters", Arum said. "It's their money and they can do what they want, but Don King doesn't have to go along with it and neither do I. King and I can get along without HBO or Showtime."

To which I say good luck you selfish prick.

Last but not least is my favorite Bob Arum quote...

"I was lying yesterday. Today I am telling the truth."

Bob Arum, YOU are what is ruining this sport. The prevention of the best fighters fighting the best opposition will continue to hinder the sport and prevent it from reaching it's potential as it has previously in decades past.
You are, and have been ruining the sport I love and kept me out of trouble as a youth. I truly believe that if it was not for the sport of boxing and my local PAL, I would not have graduated college with two degrees, much less graduated from High School. This is why I am so boisterous about this topic, because I see the problem with the sport that helped me and so many others through adolescence in **** neighborhoods, yet nothing seems to be done about it. So I am calling for a boycott of Top Rank Promotions. If we cannot have a single commission in charge, then we must weed out what is wrong with the sport and start with the promoters who refuse to "not care" what the people who pay them want.
The fighter is the only one on the ring taking the beating. There is no pension, no medical insurance and no one to give any legal advise. In fact, some promoters actually prohibit fighters from seeking outside, independent legal opinions. So again, if we cannot have a single commission, then we must weed out the corrupt promoter and start at the "Top."
                      Boycott Top Rank.
best post i have read so far in this forum but it seems like everyone is doing what arum has been doing for the past couple of decades..floyd is doing the same thing pretty much but at least he was smart enough to leave arum and not give 20+ percent to that greedy piece of s***..but you def explained and showed to some people with facts what arum has been doing and why mayweather doesnt want to deal with him (im not defending mayweather for not taking the fight with pacman) but arum and all the promoters getting greedy and keeping their fights inhouse is whats killing boxing, the sport that many of us love and used it as an outlet from negative influence.
