Comments Thread For: John vs Gamboa Featherweight Unification Talks To Begin

Adviser Sampson Lewkowicz is ready to begin negotiations for a featherweight unification between fellow unbeatens Chris John and Yuriorkis Gamboa. Lewkowicz plans to meet with Top Rank CEO Bob Arum on Wednesday at his Las Vegas office. John is the WBA's "super champion in recess" at featherweight. Gamboa is the WBA's regular "super champion at featherweight," and also holds the IBF's title. Both sides are hoping to reach a deal for an early March showdown on HBO.

puncher vs boxer. if john can stay on the outside and use angles to avoid the bombs he can win. gamboa is super fast and powerful tho. great style match up.

I think Gamboa knocks him out, Chris John was on shakey feet against Rocky Juarez in both of there fights. Chris John clearly has the talent at outboxing opponents but I do believe he can be hurt.

          This fight would rock.

Hopefully John still has more left in the tank.

It tough going from a 1 KO bum to Gamboa.

LOL at the WBA. John is the "Super Champion in Recess" and Gamboa is the "Regular Super Champion."

If the WBA had a face I'd punch it.

              Scott Pilgrim style.

Great news for boxing. They should stage this fight in Indonesia.
