    ---

Ok let me explain it to you with numbers...

1st Choice- Cotto vs Martinez = Cotto will fight a bigger, fresher, more skilled boxer for around 5 million dollars!!! out of that 5 millions, Arum keeps 33% cause he Arum will be co-promoting so Lou will get a piece of the pie...etc....for a fight that he has little chance to win

2nd choice- Cotto vs Margacheato = Cotto will fight a fighter that he's been in the ring with, that has been beaten down, that you know that cheated when he fought with you for around 12 millions, cause it will be a bigger draw, specially if they do it in NY + the odds to beat Cheato are a lot higher than beating Sergio...Bob will not have to co-promote so his fee is around 20% to each fighter...that's why TR fighters don't complain about this TR in house bs!!!

You don't have to be a genius 'to understand whats up!!!
If Cotto don't get Manny, his contract expires at the end of 2011, he can easily leave Top Ranks and get fights later w/ Floyd or Martinez.

As a fan, a Cotto fan...I'll like to see Cotto fight Sergio even I know Sergio has a very good chance to beat Cotto, but Cotto will fight him and as a fan I like that about the fighter that I follow!!! In summary...winnable fight 12 mil... vs little chance to win 5 mil...Can you blame him?...

I still believe Arum is killing boxing!!! He is too greedy but rt now he's the top dog...that will change and I hope soon...I really was looking forward for Cotto/Martinez...imo it was going to be interesting the 1st half of the fight w/ Martinez taking over in the later rounds!!!

If you are suggesting Sergio fighting 3x a year against nobodies on unknown networks would make him a bigger draw then fighting once or twice a year on HBO, then you must be delusional
that's what make arum a great promoter and dibella a *****y one.

        NO

Arum Offered a 2.5 million buyout to Dibella meaning he just pays Dibella 2.5 mil, which takes him out of the picture and has Arum getting all of the money from the PPV event

But Dibella Wanted a 5 mill buyout instead of 2.5 mil with Arum being the sole promoter

You got the whole situation completely confused

simple... have martinez fight more than 1 fight a year. that's what promoters do.

So you are telling me, fighting nobodies 3x a year is better then fighting the best guys possible 2x a year like Sergio has done?

Right out of the olimpics and had a huge grounds to build a star the same thing with lopez. Also with jcc jr he was a son of a legend and has build him into a minor star. Lou and other small promoters dont get those chances to sign the best talent and turn them pro.
                  dibella got berto, taylor, etc...

                  goosen got pwill, ward, etc...

                  shaw got dirrell, bradley, etc...

what arum does is he offers the most money to the guys with the best fan bases: mexicans, ricans, and pinoys.

gbp does the same thing, but they target mexicans, ricans, and brits.

"He wanted a buyout. He offered $2.5 million against the upside [of the pay-per-view]. I told him that 'I'm not a booking agent, I'm a promoter,' and I told him 'my fighter is not an opponent.' I offered him $5 million to buy him out and he said he wasn't interested. We weren't mad at each other. He doesn't want to do a co-promotion. He only wants to do a buyout and my fighter is not an opponent and I'm not a booking agent," DiBella told BoxingScene.com.
I think you got it wrong buddy.
