Pac-Martinez at 154 for JMW and MW straps?

    Why not?

If Sergio were calling out Manny at 154, that'd be honorable
because small as he is, Pacquiao is a beltholder at JMW.

However... Sergio calling out Pac at 155 seems a bitch move:
that's MW by definition, and is effectively calling out a smaller
guy AND making him go up a weight class.

For just a pound of compromise, we could have a MAJOR event:
Sergio offers to meet at 154 stipulated, a weight he does not
    deny he can still make...

At stake would be Pac's JMW belt --which Sergio wants-- and
also Sergio's MW belt, which would be legitimately defended at
154, because the two fighters would still weigh in under 160:
by definition that qualifies as a MW fight.

Crazy? Well, what was Sergio offering originally, again?

Since Arum wants to give Pac a "smaller opponent" for now,
Pac can fight Berto to keep busy, then Sergio later in 2011.
    What'chu tink?

why would the mw crown be on when they fight at 154? if they fight at 155 they can fight for all the belts. i can see 155 being plauseable

They can weigh in for 155 and then a little bit later they can weigh in for 154. Leonard did it to win the WBC Light Heavyweight and Super Middleweight titles back in the day.

The weight definitions are UPPER LIMITS.
You have to be 160 and BELOW to qualify for a MW fight.

If fighters come in at 154, it's legit for both JMW and MW contests.
If they come in at 155, the JMW title is automatically out of the picture.

That's quite an interesting point there.

Ofcourse it will be for the 154lbs title that is rightfully Martinez to begin with.

Sounds good to me. Only point would be that Sergio was drained but I wouldn't moan about it.

Martinez and Dibella already made this offer. I say go for it, Roach will probably on board but Arum is not so that= no Pacquiao-Martinez.

Which is what made Khan turn down Top Rank as he'd been painted as a cherry-picker so long.

If Arum had him there would be no Khan Maidana it would have been JMM-Khan.
