JMM-Katsidis: Why Not Follow the Blueprint?

I'm watching JMM-Katsidis again and of course Mike is no Mayweather but if there is a fight where your opponent is dominated and shut out why do you not employ any of those tactics? Katsidis never blocked shots, defended, pot shot, fainted etc.. He fought JMM the way Juan Diaz did and that only got Diaz KO'd. Just like it got Katsidis KO'd.

I think fighters who can not adapt or utilize a proven strategy should just retire, its only going to get you hurt.

    Wow.

Kats fought JMM the best way he knew how.

You do what your the best at.

If he would have tried to fight differently the fight would have ended much earlier.

    He played into JMM's style.

But he also gave himself the best chance at winning.

      You are 100% correct

He should have just dropped his style that he used his whole career and starting fainting and pot shooting, even though he has never done that

Maybe he should have also shown us some pullcounters and his amazing boxing skills

Well, if every fighter fought like Floyd than we’d be bored out of our minds…

Because Katsidis can't fight like Mayweather. If he even tried to box with Marquez it would have been an even longer night.

To me though, you have to try different tactics sometimes, fighters arent suppose to be that predictable. Why even bother training, or developing a gameplan or strategy If your only going to do the same thing repeatedly. My senses would of told me I can't fight jmm the way I fight everybody else, I have to fight smarter.

Pretty much. Don't expect a guy like Katsidis o outbox JMM. He wasn't going to become a technician overnight.

Why not, he had nothing to lose, unless you think trying new techniques or strategies is foolish.
