Comments Thread For: Marquez Deserves The Pacquiao Fight, Not Shane Mosley

By Keith Idec - If Manny Pacquiao doesn’t fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. next, he should face Juan Manuel Marquez a third time.

From historical and competitive perspectives, Mexico’s Marquez absolutely should be Pacquiao’s Plan B if the biggest fight in boxing cannot be made due to Mayweather’s legal predicament or whichever reason Mayweather offers for not opposing Pacquiao. Assuming Mayweather-Pacquiao doesn’t come off in the first half of 2011, it’s obvious at this point that former three-division champion Shane Mosley is the front-runner to land a pay-per-view fight against Pacquiao.

Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, said this week that Pacquiao could fight as early as April 16, though that will depend on Pacquiao’s still-to-be-determined congressional schedule in the Philippines. His next fight also could occur May 7, since the first Saturday in May has become a prime pay-per-view date for HBO Sports in recent years, even when Mexican or Mexican-American fighters aren’t involved in the main event. jmm has to prove he can carry the weight above 140 lbs and still be effective.

that said I don't really like the mosley fight either.

        best option imho is berto.

Yeah I basically agree with this. Marquez has earned his shot and Mosley has looked every bit his age in his past two fights.

Keith, Pacquiao never accepted terms for drug testing... period...

OFFER ON THE TABLE WAS: RANDOM BLOOD TESTING

PACMAN'S COUNTER OFFER WAS: 7 OR 14 DAYS PRIOR TO FIGHT NIGHT (DEPENDING ON WHO IN TEAM PACMAN YOU ASK)

            Check this out:
Dr. Don H. Catlin, the head of the LA-based non-profit Anti-Doping Research, Inc:

“If you have a 24-day window that’s free, with no testing, you can take whatever you want and you’re not going to get caught, end of story,” Catlin said. “[Urine testing] does matter, yes, but they’re not going to catch everything by urine testing alone. What you would do is to take Mircera [a type of EPO], which is available and which is not easy to detect in urine and away you go. You need a blood test.”

Floyd has stated firmly he won't bend on his olympic style drug testing demand. Pacman will need to get over his "fear" of needles for this fight to go down...

Why, JMM can come in at what weight he wants.... 147 is the limit, there's no minimum.

Still a huge disadvantage tho, added to all the rest

It's obvious Marquez wont get 50-50 split, talk about overpricing yourself.
