  • Just watched Calzaghe vs Hopkins again

It actually wasn't that bad of a fight, Calzaghe looked sloppy as hell when I watched it live but he didn't look that bad technically bad. Calzaghe landed some clean right hands throughout but they weren't even that hard, most of them were just connecting and moving away again, Calzaghe out hussled him and was making Hopkins miss himself towards the end.

Close fight and Hopkins was in it until towards the end where I think Joe just pulled away.

Underrated fight, wouldn't recommend it to anyone but certainly not as bad as made out.

Yeah I agree, saw it pretty much the same way.

Calzaghe looked a lot better when I rewatched it, he made Hopkins miss a lot of straight rights towards the end and Hopkins faked the low blow to take away Calzaghe's rhythm a bit.

Hopkins' defence is really special though, second best in his generation after Floyd.

I remember rewatching it, only someone very biased can say Hopkins won it, hopkins really didnt land enough punches and calzaghe was controlling the fight with his work rate

A big plus to remember is that calzaghe had no sparring training for the hopkins and jones fight as his hands were too weak

Never understood the people saying Hopkins won that fight.

            Was it close? Sure.

Did Hopkins deserve the decision? Hell no.

I remember watching it thinking there was no way in hell Hopkins was going to win.

Yup me too... at the end of the day he just wasn't active enough towards the later rounds to win it.. but Joe kept his workrate going consistently.
