Martinez could fight this guy tomorrow.

He wants to be on HBO three times in 2011? Its probably going to have to be against a few opponents like this and maybe one big name.

The rumors are that Cotto is interested in fighting Martinez in March at 155. If that fight isn't made, Zbik is an acceptable opponent. Let's just hope the Cotto deal is done.

Universum has no intention of letting Zbik fight Martinez. Zbik "earned" his interm title by beating nobodies and Universum is praying the WBC strips Martinez so he can get the "full" belt without earning it. No way Universum puts Zbik in with Pirog, Golovkin or even Sturm because he would have absolutely no chance of winning.

These belts are so hypocrytical that if you have a name in boxing you can do whatever you want and not get stripped. Sergio has been fighting top competition and still has to face a mandatory or get stripped. Paper belts are useless and don't decide if the boxer is the best in his weight class

Martinez rightfully deserves a crack at an easier opponent since he's been taking on top competition. I think it's a good idea for a tune-up before stepping up to elite level again.

Martinez should fight Zbik in March (so the German boxing fans don't have to watch his fights for some time afterwards) and then Cotto in June...
