  • Kessler: Froch does not want to rematch me.

Mikkel Kessler longs for a comeback. When his eye is ok his hunger is back danish tabloid ekstrabladet.dk writes.

Kessler was ringside for the Abraham-Froch fight in Helsinki. He wasn't impressed by stablemate Abraham:

"Abraham has a good guard. He covers nearly all of his body. But that's all he does. He showed so little. I don't think Arthur can compete at this level. He needs to try new things. Perhaps change trainer."

Kessler jumped into the ring to congratulate Carl Froch:

"Carl was obviously very happy. But he also said that he didn't want to meet me again. That's a surprise as I thought he would. On the other hand it was a tough fight we had and the next would be more of the same. So he wasn't interested in that. At least not in the aftermath of the Abraham fight", Kessler laughs.

Carl Froch told danish tv2 after the fight: "I never felt I wasn't the champ. I lost to Kessler who's a fighter and a gentleman and he shows his class by being here tonight."

Kessler is still having trouble with the eye and all he can do is wait.

"It will take some time. I'll have to stay positive. I need to get back and beat the supersix winner. I hope it'll be Andre Ward. Hopefully in Denmark or on neutral turf. When he no longer has an american referee to help him I'll kick his butt", Kessler concludes.

Do people really think that Carl wouldn't take the fight?

He'd be all over it like a cheap suit.

      Kessler is a class act.

Kessler would have easily beaten Abraham.

Frochy would take that fight in a hearbeat. I think he potentially stops Kessler in a rematch

Yes it seems out of character him saying that he doesn't want a rematch.

I cannot see Froch stopping Kessler though. He wasn't even close last time. If anyone was close it was the dane.

Froch would love a rematch. I reckon he could win at the second time of calling.

Seems to me like Kessler must have got the wrong end of the stick or was misquoted, because we all know that Froch would jump at the chance of a rematch with Kessler, provided of course that it was held at a neutral venue, as Froch felt he was on the wrong end of a hometown decision.

Aside from fighting a much more disciplined fight and making better use of his advantages, Froch looked altogether quicker and fitter in the Abraham fight than he did in the Kessler fight, a fight that I felt he edged, but that all serious boxing fans would agree was at least close. A better prepared and better disciplined Froch could certainly beat Kessler in a rematch, although I'd expect it to be close once again.

Froch lost a close fight, he would jump at the chance.

He even said he would give Pascal a rematch, can't get any better than that...
