If it was so easy why didn't Marquez beat all those fighters too?

Styles make fights, right? As Marquez argues those fighters fought the way Manny prefers. It could be argued that either Marquez could have done the same with opponents that were a perfect match for him and his style or that Marquez could not do the same with the same fighters because he does not have Manny's style.

I do not know what *I* would agree with at this point, but Marquez makes an intriguing case for a third fight...if it happens at 140.

Manny is a Jr welter!!!!

I love Manny, but really guys Cotto, hatton and oscar were all Shells of what they used to be. Margo is soo mechanical/slow and Clottey just went in for a payday. Props to Pacmonster but his last 5 fights were set ups with name fighters that posed no threat. Marquez has Mexico behind him period, it would sell and should be at 140. Freddie is getting carried away with dictating weights to weaken the opposition that is already shot. I love freddy, but he can stir the pot too much.

I don't know why some people are saying that Pacquiao is on another level now. Are they talking about a different weight class or maybe on a ranking list? The first time Marquez and Pacquiao fought, Pacquiao was considered a one handed fighter. After that fight and the first fight against Morales, Roach decided he needed to teach Pacquiao two use both hands that is why Pacquiao now has a right hook. So by the time he fought Marquez FOUR years later Pacquiao was considered for the most part a complete offensive fighter that he is now and Marquez still gave Pacquiao a tough fight. So Marquez has already fought this version of Pacquiao and some think Marquez won. The truth is that Pacquiao should have done the rematch with Marquez right away. After a draw in there first fight there is no doubt the next fight should have been the rematch which I believe Marquez chances of winning that fight would have increased a lot. Pacquiao went on to loose to Morales and Morales gave Pacquiao the rematch right away at a 130lb the same as the first fight but Morales was having trouble making the weight. Morales wanted the fight at 135lb but Roach said Pacquiao was too small. This match should have taken place a long time ago and Marquez deserved it, Pacquiao should give it to him and at least at 140lb.

WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez is making it very personal with Manny Pacquiao. The Mexican warrior is using every trick in the book to land a third fight with Pacquiao. At Saturday's post-fight press conference in Las Vegas, Marquez wore a t-shirt with the message "Marquez Beat Pacquiao Twice" on the front. Marquez is telling everyone who will listen that Pacquiao is running from a trilogy battle.

I think marquez would still beat manny at 140, but at 147 manny is just too big and marquez wouldnt be able to make the weight. Its also ****ed up that manny has been fighting people at catch weights this entire time with cotto the welter weight limit is 147! and cotto said before the fight that he didnt think it was fair that manny gets to fight for his welter weight title but at a catch weight but not since marquez wants him now hes saying no catch weight man **** manny. Cotto will beat him in the rematch!

I like Marquez but the problem I have here is this: Micheal Katsidis, Juan Diaz, Rocky Juarez these guys for the most part are also fighters who come forward and their styles are made to order for Juan. Juan mentions that Manny beat Barrera, but I had Marco ahead on my score card. So, in my mind, Juan really lost to a boxer that Manny destroyed once and beat the second go around.

I give Juan big props for knocking out Casamayor, but Joel was on his way to losing to Katsidis had Micheal not become over anxious for the knockout. Does anyone believe that Joel was on the top of his game when he fought Juan? The only recent fighter that I can think of off the top of my head who has set up fights for himself that are disastrous for his fighting style is Shane Mosely (and I'm referring to the Wright, Forrest, Mayweather, and Mora fights when I say that).
