yup its personal and it will be there wether he wins or loses to sergio. i guess depending on how many fights cotto wants before he retires he can go for margarito next but if he loses he wont get a shot at sergio.

is that why sergio wants to fight him? wouldn't that be considered cherrypicking by sergio?

Yes, it could, but Martinez has fought some pretty tough matches lately, and Cotto would bring great PPV.

          That is a great point.

OK, you pulled it out of me......
I disagree with you, because that fight may not always be there.

Why I said that I could see "Cotto drawing a line in the sand if he had to"
..... is because of the X-factor, Bob Arum.

I don't mean to always sound like I'm hating on poor ol' Uncle Bob.....
..... but I hate that cvnt so much it's not funny

Like Manny and Margarito, to a large extent Cotto's future is directly determined by Bob Arum, and that assswipe could simply throw a spanner in the works. It depends on what the BobFather has in mind, and who knows what that could be?

When I said that I could see Cotto drawing a line in the sand if he had to.....
..... I meant that he could get offered a window for that fight, and he may have to take it when Uncle Bob decides, which could affect any other options for Miguel.

I just didn't want to go into all of that coz it sounds like I'm taking the opportunity to hate on Arum.

Did I mention that I hate that prick? Yea I think I did.

Surely he is beyond reproach by now, as far as those sort of accusations go?

Cintron, P-Will I, Pavlik, P-Will II is a pretty good run

That is a good point though.

If Cotto is thinking of ever fighting Sergio, then now is the time.

It just depends on whether Arum will give him the opportunity.

This fight only sounds good had cotto not had a beat down by both margarito and pacman, anyone that considers this fight to be competitive is in for a rude awakening and weight don't play a role.
Cotto in my eyes is not the same boxer since the PAC fight and I'll add that I think the PAC fight, cotto thought he could come back from the marg fight and the clottey fight proved he can still hang in there but PAC showed he wasn't the same boxer he once was.

Williams was completely out of position with his right hand down around his waist moving into a very unorthodox windmill overhand left that Martinez threw with everything he had. I do think Cotto is the underdog but I think the fight is a lot more competitive than most think and Cotto and Steward have the skils and strategic ability to win that fight, especially if Martinez is desperate enough to come down to 155.
Man Martinez landed that punch perfect. Yes Pwill was off BUT Martinez is the one who landed flush in the sweet spot. He's gotten a lot better over these past few years and I would have told you he beats Cotto every day of the week and twice on Sundays before ever stepping in the ring with Pwill the second time at JMW.

Steward is a great trainer. Cotto and him will make a great team IMO but Cotto wont beat Martinez at 154. I like Cotto but NOT against Martinez. Cotto and Margarito have unfinished business. Arum SHOULD HAVE had Cotto Margarito II and not Pac Margarito.

Anyway Martinez is a career JMW. I think he can make that weight no problem but now that he's older would he be more "comfortable" at MW. I think he can run JMW and MW no problem. No way can he make 147. Why fight Cotto when Pac holds HIS title AT 154. Its neither Martinez's, Cotto, yours, mine or anyone else's fault on HOW Pac "won" that belt. Its a legit belt and Martinez should be calling out Pac every day all day AT 154 (where Pac holds in his left hand a 154 title).

If you think otherwise you validate that Pac picks and chooses fighters at a certain weight classes AT certain weights to get the advantages. Let alone the certain fighters not even being ranked at the weight class he "picked" to fight them in i.e Margarito (non ranked JMW let alone WW), Mosley (non ranked WW).

I have a serious problem with this picking and choosing. If Mosley was THE MAN at 147 at the age of 40 years old I would have no problem BUT he's 40 and is the fighter of 5 years ago.... hold no rank at ww and hasn't won a fight since January 2009.

Pac holds a title AT WW and JMW and is a FORMER JWW titlists, yet he wont face the best at ANY of those weight classes. How do you explain that?

Picking and choosing fighters at certain weight classes AT certain weights to get all the advantages...
