Martinez shouldnt be picking on these guys that is 5 inch smaller than he is and outweighs them by 20lbs- thats a b!tch move- he knows he has the advantage even he says it.

Don't be silly. Martinez is now a large JMW, and he just fought Pavlik who could easily fight at SMW. And he also fought 6'3" Paul Williams twice, so that's three hard fights in a row.

Margarito is bigger than Martinez, and Manny just fought him, so what is the problem? Martinez said that he will fight at JMW, and both Manny and Cotto are JMW champions. The only difference between Martinez and Margarito is that Martinez is a world class fighter.

As usual, Manny will not fight anybody with a pulse, but it wouldn't surprise me if Cotto takes the fight.

He should be fighting guys his own size, which I will guarantee he would. He will be fighting between Middle/Supermiddleweight, that division is stack. He can fight Pirog, bute, one of the super six, glen johnson and the list go on. Fighting at the lower weights after being up to 168- thats bad move, but its his choice if he wants to earn that dough.

It is fkn absurd to suggest that the JMW champions Manny and Miguel are too small to fight at JMW, but the large JMW Martinez should fight the LHW Johnson.
Why are standards held so low for Pacquiao ?

Miguel has a perfectly timed jab. I can see Sergio getting hit with it often. As for stopping Cotto...it's a possibility. We can only wonder how his chin is at 154. With that said, this would be a great fight. They both are on my top fav fighters list.

          NOT HAPPENING.

You guys are crazy if you think Uncle Bob is going to let Margarito or Cotto anywhere near Martinez. He's planning on a Cotto/Margarito rematch, and that **** could easily be on PPV. Puerto Rico vs Mexico = $$$$

He's not gonna risk losing that by letting Sergio destroy either guy (and he would).

As a Cotto fan, the Martinez bout is not something I'd like to see...Cotto would get destroyed, maybe not KO'd by a single punch but I think Martinez would outbox him and punish him for 12..Cotto-Williams would be more competitive

the fight should be at 154 for cotto's belt.. i been saying martinez should campain at both 154 and 160,, big names at 154 and he can unify all the titles.

I like Cotto but have to admit Martinez is a huge task for Cotto.

Cotto is no longer in his prime and is on the way down the hill while Martinez is on the way up.

Money wise its not a good fight.

Margarito vs Martinez 2 and winner fights Cotto is how you make money.

Its win win because It sets up a couple more interesting fights after M vs M 2.

Pacquiao is 5′6½″ while Martinez is only 5'10. He's not THAT much taller.

None of the super middleweights are currently available to him because he's an HBO fighter.

It be the biggest fight of 2011 if it happens at 154. If Martinez asks for 160 he should be ashamed because Miguel will probably take it. Do the right thing and fight him at 154.

Lets keep things in perspective people, Sergio has a horrible habit of leaning to his right DIRECTLY in line for a Cotto left hook or uppercut, I doubt that will be a good thing for Sergio. Secondly, he drops his hands a lot and Cotto could hit him alive with his jab if Sergio doesn't get that under control. Finally, there isn't a single man out there who has ever outboxed Cotto, they overpower him and I doubt Sergio would be able to do that.

Sure, he was able to bust up PW and Pavlik but both guys simple walk right in. Pavlik simply chases you around the ring while Williams has no mind for defense and leans throws his head while he punches, leaving himself wide open to shots. I don't think Sergio's speed will be an issue for Cotto in this fight as I think Cotto's speed is right on par with Sergio and possibly even his power (@ 154.) At 154/155 I would actually give Cotto the edge in this fight, based simply off Cotto's style AND having Steward in his corner now. Sergio I think is a solid fighter but I see more bad habits with him than I see with Cotto. That being said, Sergio has improved immensely since his first fight with PWill and I'm sure the experience helped. It'd be a close fight but I'd go with Cotto 55/45 Cotto, it wouldn't be an easy fight for either guy and I would actually really like to see it. However, Cotto/Marg II would certainly do FAR FAR FAR better numbers than this fight would and being that they are both Top Rank I'm pretty sure we know whats coming.
Something about boxing and no racial war damn, I must be dreaming. Good post man and I actually agree with most of your analysis.
