At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, WBO/WBA lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5-1, 37 KOs) stopped mandatory/WBO interim-champ Michael Katsidis (27-3, 22 KOs) in the ninth round. Marquez was dropped in the third, but got back up and finished off a fading Katsidis with a variety of punches in the ninth. Marquez will now continue his push for a third fight with Manny Pacquiao.
