Yes, Katsidis was not throwing back (until, oddly enough, the very last exchange before the fight was stopped), but was still moving. Bayless should have at least waited until he was knocked down. He was taking major punishment but had not as yet shown signs of getting really staggered or rocked. The round was near it's end, and I think Katsidis would have survived (although he would likely have been stopped in the next round). Still, the distinction is important, he deserved the chance given the magnitude of the bout.
The replays didn't show Katsidis's eyes rolling into the back of his head after that last right hand.

Oh I understand. I was surprised when it happened and a little disappointed that Marquez didn't get the chance to finish him off more spectacularly. But in retrospect, seeing the way that Katsidis' legs buckled every time he got hit, it makes more sense.

I'm okay with it. Katsidis was stumbling around the ring while Marquez battered on him the whole time.

Bayless could have waited a bit, but I believe it would have been the same result.

It was a prefect stoppage, you morons,

JMM was hitting Katsidis at will. Katsidis was defenseless and JMM was hurting more and more with each punch. If the fight continued for 3 more rounds, Katsidis would have been facing long term brain damage

Like I said in my other thread, Bayless probably got some serious money down on Marquez to win by round 9 KO. If he is going to stop a fight early he should have did it in the Cotto Pac fight.

If it was early in the round I would agree, but it was near the very end of the round.

i was happy with the stoppage. the ref saw a man too proud to go down, who was getting battered by a superior fighter, so he rightfully stopped the fight. i give the ref my respect

I thought it too was a TAD early, but it wouldn't have changed the outcome of the fight IMO and I love Katsidis. He was taking a LOT of flush shots from a guy whos known for his razor sharp punches. He would have gotten KO'd within the next round or so

Todays refs aren't like the old school. Yes kats was hurt badly, it didn't seem like it but you can tell in his eyes he was hurt badly.

I don't blame the ref cuz kats was basically about to be out, but an old school ref would of let kats get dropped and I know for a fact kats would up got up and survived the round. You never know what could of happened.

A little early stoppage but it wasn't a ridiculous stoppage.

I agree. MK was simply getting his legs back under him. He was rocked pretty damn good and should have been given the benefit of the doubt seeing as how he never went down, and started to throw back.
