Eubank's tactics against Toney and Jones Jr..

Here's what he said a few years ago, how he would of fought them had he fought them..

"The strategy is this: It is to stay out of range for the rest of the fight at whatever point I'd won four or five rounds on Toney, he's a slow starter but I'd have to watch out for his well-timed left hooks and powerful counter rights the closer we get to the end. For Jones it will be to catch him out early or late, he's very quick and confident in the middle rounds, if I don't catch him cold in the opening rounds then I'd try to suprise him by trying to get him out of there at the end. I'd be cagey in the middle rounds for Jones to stay out of his ranges, and atleast I'm giving myself twice as much chance of getting him out of there wether it be early or late."

Asked if he believes he could of beaten Jones, Eubank relied "Yes".

    Easier said than done.
I can't remember any top level fighter ever saying they couldn't have beaten a fighter who was around the time they were around, but never fought.

Interesting. He beats Toney,I have little doubt about that, watching Eubank at his sharpest (1992-93, plus Rocchigiani & Wharton in 94) and watching Toney at his sharpest (Barkley & Williams) its difficult for me to see Toney getting to Eubank enough in the first half of the fight unless Eubank really hurt him early on (like when he was cut against Littles, they gave him one more round and he just went for it and got him).Roy Jones is a fight that Eubank just cannot win on points because he didnt have the stamina to keep up with Roy Jones,Eubank would probably be leading RJJ at the halfway point but then it would be all RJJ when Eubanks combinations would start becoming loose and sloppy due to his arms burning out as they often did.If RJJ caught Eubank while Eubank was at his worst (Watson 2,Benn 2,Schommer),it could be a late round stoppage win for RJJ.But Eubank at his best beats Toney at his best in my opinion, and Eubank at his best embarasses the Toney that fought Tiberi!
