Wilfred Benitez accomplished more than Sanchez did by age 23....so did Tyson.

Benitez was also kinda shot by the time he was in his mid-twenties.
Age in boxing is more than your years on earth.

I thought Salvador Sanchez was a great fighter....but IMO he is overrated NOW,that's what untimely death's can do to one's legend.

Imagine if Tyson would have been killed after he ko'd Spinks, **** the guy would be considered right there with Ali and by many he would be rated the greatest HW ever!

Imagine if HEctor Camacho Jr. would have been killed prior to his fight with Jesse James, so he may not be considered a legend but at least he wouldnt be considered a *****.

You know my vote already..Sanchez..stop the hating on this guy..hes not overrated..yeah he fought down to the level of his competition. Dont try to downgrade his victory against Gomez..cause he didnt "trained" properly for the fight or he wasnt anything special at 126. I dont see anyone bringing up the fact that Carlos Zarate went up in weight to fight Gomez..but yet people say that was a great win for Gomez..which is true to an extent. Zarate wasnt anything special at super bantamweight. So, Sanchez beat Gomez, Nelson, Laporte, Codwell and Lopez (2x). At only 23..not in his prime..yes i think its fair that he would of gotten better..and would have accomplished more.

As for his fight with Gomez. He squashed Gomez...& would have done it again in a rematch. But, that fight is an example of the kind of fight/fighter Sanchez needed to shine.
When faced with other boxers, Sanchez struggled. It wasn't that he was fighting down to the level of his comp, every time he looked bad...he had trouble when he couldn't counter a guy to death.
Do I sound like a "hater", or a guy who actually witnessed this dude in his prime ?

I didnt call u a hater.just saying the hating on this guy by some ppl is..crazy..but you say he struggled, which he did, against boxers. Did he look bad? No i dont think so cause he WON the fights. Look at the big fights that this guy had..he rose up and fight great. I mean he knocked out Nelson, Lopez, and Gomez. I mean..that has to count for something. Of course he would struggle more against boxers bcause he was a great counter puncher. Its easier to counter punch someone thats coming forward aggressivly.

I dont hold that against Chavez. He fought some awesome boxers like a Whitaker and Taylor. Chavez was a straight ahead fighter who didnt mind taking punches as long as he got his in. I never liked Whitaker cause he pitter patter punches didnt do much for me. People who hold that against Chavez..just dont like him for one reason or another . And more reasons not to like him , they take.
