IDEA: How about a Boxing Tourney for Champ..

Enough with these seperate belts... Is say Boxing unifies one belt, and has tourney for it..

You take the top 6 boxers from each weight class, and have a tourney

    For example

    Middleweight class
1.Jermain Taylor- Taylor and Hopkins get first round bye
    2.Bernard Hopkins
    3.Winky Wright
    4.Artur Abraham
    5.Sam Soliman
    6.Felix Strum

    Round 1

    Felix Strum fights Winky Wirght
    Sam Soliman fights Arthur Abraham

    Round 2
    Winky Wright fights Bernard Hopkins
    Sam Soliman fights Jermain Taylor

    Round 3
    Winky Wright Fights Jermain Taylor...

We do this every division.. How cool would this be?... I don't watch much football, but they do something like this and our successful.. It would elimate ducking as well.

It sounds good, but until there is a national commision and the power is taken away from sanctioning organizations and indivdual promoters* it is nothing but a pipe dream.

    * -- Will never happen.

I think it would be a great idea. Maybe take out a few weightclasses too. For example 140-147. Make it just 147. If you weigh in at 140 you could weigh in at 147 np.

      190+ HW
170-190 - LH (get rid of cruiser altogether)
      160-170 - Middle Weight
      145-160 - Jr Middle
      135-145 - Welter
      125-135 - Lightweight
      <125 Flyweight

That's why the 145'er will put on weight to be 160. Not saying that's the grouping I would use, but still it's not rocket science. Everybody knows there should be fewer weight divisions.

You're taking a step backwards, man...

There's a reason we have more weight classes than we used to

You'd like to see Jean-Marc Mormeck vs. Butterbean?

How about Rafael Marquez vs. Ivan Calderon?

                    Seriously?
