  • Re: Sergio Martinez: Back 2 Reality

K, I know his win over Paul Williams was "amazing".

But lets not forget: Sergio lost the first fight. And I never thought Paul Williams was any good to begin with, and he was *never* on my top10 P4P.

Paul Williams lost to friggin C level Carlos Quintana, yeah, Paul won the rematch, but losing to a fighter like Quintana in the first place is a garbage result.

Paul Williams was always overrated, Ive been saying that for literally years.

So I'm not so impressed with Martinez' result, particularly in light that it took him 2 fights to finally beat Paul Will.

Martinez is a fighter who did not have any amateur career of note, started boxing in his 20's. And Im sorry, but the truth is Martinez has overachieved to his skill level.

I like Martinez, and Im happy he won. But saying he is top3 P4P is a joke. Guys like Wlad Klitschko have 300 Amateur fights, and has been champion for like 10 years. Martinez just comes a long, no amateur fights, and LOSES to paul will. So, lets be honest.

Lucian Bute would KO Martinez in my opinion.
Arthur Abraham would be 50/50 with Martinez in my opinion.
I'd favour Martinez over Pirog, but its close to 50/50.

So calling Martinez P4P#3 is friggin ridiculous. One win over an overrated guy doesnt get you that far.

American sports fan are so delusional to what HBO shows them, and their black athletes.

The truth is: Lucian Bute & Wlad Klitschko are both P4P ahead of Sergio Martinez.

Martinez is good, great fighter. But lets not forget he started boxing at 20, was KO'd by Margarito, lost to an overrated Paul Will.

    Martinez has overachieved.

Mayweather should challenge Martinez, because he will beat Martinez. Martinez at this point is overrated and has become the new Paul Williams in the sense of Americans overrating him.

    Lucian Bute > Sergio
    Wlad Klitschko > Sergio

    hell, even

Vitali Klitschko > Sergio in a P4P sense

I lol'd at he's not top 3 P4P. He and Floyd are the only 2 fighters on the god damn ring magazine list who have beaten someone in the top 10 P4P in recent history.

Paul Williams is a friggin joke and Ive never had him on my P4P list.

I mean the guy fcking lost to Carlos Quintana. Since then I totally removed him from any P4P conversation. Losing to Quintana was a forebearing to his loss to Martinez.

Martinez is in my opinion, P4P # 6 or so...

Keep in mind Martinez started boxing at 22, and theres only so many skills you can develop in 13 years.

                  Gennady Golovkin, middleweight from kazakhstan

In my opinion this guy would KO Martinez.

                  EASY

Golovkin is much better fighter than Martinez and Id bet MONEY he KO's Martinez if they fought.

Are you seriously going to take the scorecard of a judge that gave 119-110 to Williams as dogma? He didn't lose and everyone knows it.
