Comments Thread For: Jeff Mayweather: Martinez Not Better Than Pacquiao, Floyd

Trainer Jeff Mayweather spoke with BoxingScene.com about last Saturday's fight between Sergio Martinez and Paul Williams. The fight ended shockingly when Martinez used a single left hand to knock Williams out in the second round. Since the win, Martinez is being measured up against the two best pound for pound fighters in the sport, Jeff's nephew Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Manny Pacquiao.

He says the same things about Paul that iv'e been saying for ages......where is the jab??

Again Pac + Floyd struggle with Sergio above 156+ because of the size......Manny would have to come in at 45 to save his speed, and it's conceivable Floyd would be slower if he came in at 154+ aswell. The higher above 54 the faster Martinez will be!!!!

For him to be a trainer and to make some of comments he has made, as well and some of the things his brothers have stated before....really makes me question there knowledge on the sport.

I was joking earlier when I said he couldn't KO soft @ss Cintron, but the truth is this; If you have payed attention to the Pavlik and especially Williams II, Sergio has greatly improved his punching technique.

Dude wasn't a KO puncher prior...but he is know. I mean please watch the fight and look at how he has improve his leverage, footplacement and punching technique. People say lucky punch but if you really watched ....that **** was gonna happen regardless because Sergio was starting to time him and was rocking Williams with shots earlier in the fight.

                translation:

"jeff is only right when he's praising floyd but not when he's praising pac in favor of other fighters."

                nice.

Floyds lasast fight was so long ago, that we dont know how good he is now. Pacs last performance is still reverberating in our memory though, so Pac still has it for now.

Floyd has had a long enough break now and should fight Sergio. Sergio is a bit overated so i ccant think of a better reason for floyd to fight him.

Pretty much what I've been saying. Williams, like a lot of other fighters, is a gambler. Except he tossed his dice one too many times in the ring and crapped out.
