If cotto was smart id get julito first, then go after margarito when he's more healed.i see some posters saying margarito is shot already.i knew this was going down as i expected.he hasn't even stepped back in the ring and hes already shot to some ppl.

Anyways aside that, just like arum said theres risks and theres rewards.the big question is how will cotto get paid per alternative.
I agree, he isn't shot but he was never good to begin with. I don't get this mexican hype train about Margarito. Any top level competitor he's been in with he's gotten blasted and/or outclassed as if his record didn't speak for itself. I'm not one who thinks 2-4 losses is that you suck as a fighter, but when you getting 6 and 7's and your still relatively young you need to look at your abilities and limits. Margarito's only "big" win in his career was Cotto and whether he was clean or not there is a question of "if" he used or "may" have used. Secondly, he got schooled by Cotto until the plaster started taking its toll.

That being said Cotto stomps Marg this time around. Cotto has gotten a better trainer while Marg looks the same as he ever did except slower and with A LOT more miles on him. They've both taken some brutal beatings, but technique and skill last longer than will in terms of length of career and Cotto looks like a combination of Manny and Floyd in comparison to Margarito.

Even if JCC jr wins, Cotto would still have a tougher time against Margarito.

Senile scumbag Arum trying to keep EVERYTHING IN HOUSE!! ¿Why can't the Cotto vs Chavez jr happen in March & then a another fighter in June or vise versa? Cotto's last fight was against Foreman this past June..So if Cotto decides to take the June offer, he will be out FOR A YEAR!! Like is always the case with Senile Arum, THIS IS A BUNCH OF BULL S H I T!!

Love to see Cotto wipe the floor with a plasterless Margarito, I think people forget he's nothing without the extra 'pop' in his gloves, belted by a past prime Mosley and could barely take a round off an under weight Pacquaio.

Make cotto/Chavez in march, to avoid the year layoff.unless cotto can throw an option out to arum to have a tune up and get another fight with steward in his corner to get more acclimated with each other beside just their sparring and regular training.let Tony fully heal from the surgery and rest up from that azz kickin from pac.I figured gamboa/juanma was already in place for the eve puerto rican parade this year ,but I guess cotto/Tony 2 in ny Area at meadowland would be a lot bigger.

Either fight can be good and is winnable for Cotto. It's about time to see Chavez tested. I wouldn't be shocked to see him defeat Cotto, though I'd still favor Cotto. And Margarito may be worn enough for Cotto to deal with him in a rematch.
