But wouldn't you say Pac/May's respective bodies of work have are more extensive than Sexy Sergio's? By this rationale, would it then make sense that if Gamboa beat say JML and Caballero he'd instantly be #1 P4P? Despite a fairly limited prior history? Just playing devil's advocate, I think Maravilla is the man.

there is absolutely no argument for martinez. sure he's had a great year but that's it. It's like saying when Glen Johnson won fighter of the year beating Tarver and Roy jones he deserved to be #1 pound 4 pound over Hopkins and Floyd because he had an overall better year. Sorry, doesn't work that way.

Wrong, he is 3-0-1 in his last four, because he was robbed vs. Williams last year.

He beat Williams on points, then out-boxed the middleweight top-dog Pavlik, and then brutally KO'd Williams. Martinez is P4P no.2 ahead of Mayweather, who has only beat JMM and Mosley in the last 2 1/2 years. Two great fighters but JMM was blown up and Mosley is shot.

If Calzaghe was to come out of retirement and beat Erdei, Pascal or Cloud would he still be rated as number 2 P4P ahead of Sergio? No. He'd be top 5 though because he's awesome.
