Thanks, your a good source of knowledge.

Damn, if you have Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta hesitant to face you, you know you're a bad muthaphucka...

We can all say someone ducked the other but we must clearly know the facts. Burley was ducked but not only by Robinson but by every champion at that time. He was never granted a title shot until he was way past his prime if I remember correctlly and all avoided him and he wouldve only gotten a title fight if he had MOB ties.

He fought and beat and lost to a bunch of great fighters, considering all the avoiding his record is pretty unbelieveable for me hes easily a top 30 atg.

Yeah I've heard Lamotta ducked Burley which if true is really a testament to Burley's ability, Lamotta fought and beat some of the more avoided fighters of his time(but again I dont know for sure that he ducked him).

Burley isn't the definition of slick. He is slick, but he's more the definition of balance and intelligence. Everything he did was textbook. The way he threw a punch down to how he responded to what an opponent did. It was exactly what you were supposed to do.

Eddie Futch called him the greatest fighter he had seen. It's just one guys opinion, but even by looking at old film you can clearly see Burley was a talented guy.

chups is right. Roy threw power shots almost exclusively. Roy was slick, but it was raw power and speed that he used.

SRR also ducked Mexico's Kid Azteca.

Kid Aztecas was the most feared and avoided fighter (outside of Mexico) during thew 1940's 1950's era.

Kid Azteca was the most brutal bodypuncher of his era and is known as The GodFather of the Left Hook to the Liver.
