I've tried to discuss this with you before. You focus on the words "african american" when the focus should be on "slick style". Bhop associates the style with black american men but clearly this style is not exclusive to that group. You know what BHop means but you pretend that its more about race then style.
Manny last 5 fights have been against men who stylistically he should be able to dominate. When we read things like "Yuri foreman is too tall" when he is the same height as margarito, then clear this is a style issue, not a race issue.
But Bob ARum told Dan Rafael that he could market a Mosley Pac fight as Manny's 1st vs an african american. How can you argue this point when his own promoter points this out? It may not be a big deal to you as a Manny fan, but you can't get mad a black man that points this out. No matter what you say, you nor I can change the truth. Manny has not fought an african american fighter to this point. What that means, I really don't know.
Bhop lumps all black fighters together and I agree with you that is a mistake.
If he complained that Manny has not fought an african american fighter he would be correct, but that complaint has little validity to me. If he complained Manny has recently avoided a certain style he would also be correct. This point is important because its hard to justify all the accolades he receives for beating men who are not as good as him, just because they are bigger.Comment

The slick style "works" when you are not a come forward sitting duck for Pac's punches. You sir, can't seriously sit here with a straight face and say that Margarito has the same hand speed as Berto, Bradley, or Mosley. Margarito has zero counter punching ability. Juan Manuel Marquez is a great counter puncher which is why he gave the Pac man hell. It's not about color. It's about style. And Pac has not fought an opponent who could effectively counter his attacks or punch with him since the Marquez fights. Those are facts.
Fighters like Mayweather, Mosley, or Berto can punch with him which makes an interesting fight. Although Mosley is long in the tooth coming off two bad performances. It makes no sense to fight him now
You seem to have more of an issue with Hopkins making the claim "slick black fighter." but I'm curious sir, if you take the same issue with Mexicans calling each other "warriors that never quit?"Comment

some of ya'll act like pac has never seen the slick african american style before.
he sees it all the time in sparring.
granted it wasn't in the ring in an official fight, but pac has seen that style before and is not intimidated by it.Comment

The difffrence here though is that Marquez is a whole diffrent animal altogether. Marquez is a master boxer not a slick fighter and he takes chances that so called slick boxers wont take. He fought on even terms with pac becasue of his great boxing IQ and it had nothing to do with athletic ability. I can't name one slick boxer that has the same boxing IQ that Marquez has outside of Mayweather JR. Martinez also is not the slick boxer you claim him to be. He uses his athletic prowess to make you miss then attack the hell out of you. not exactly the pot shot artist everyone makes him out to be but martinez Pac is a fantasy fight anyway. Neither can make the weight required to fight eachother so that shouldn't even be part of the equation.
Lets also be honest about De la Hoya and Cotto, neither are straight ahead fighters. they are very well rounded and pose a threat to anyone in their divisions. I believe it was an older slower De La Hoya who the slickest of all boxers could only eek out a 1 round win against was it not?Comment
