catchweights have absolutely zero effect on the outcome of fights. its more of a false sense of security for fighters.
for elite fighters, a couple of lbs dont matter. people are so ****** to think the reason why oscar lost was because of the catchweight hence the prominence of using the catchweight as a excuse to discredit wins & fighters.
24 rehydration rule absolutely makes criticisms irrelevant.
You dont know **** about Boxing are you a professional Boxer? Your Opinion dont Count
Like I said You are not a Professional Boxer Thats all the Evidence I need to know, you dont know what your talking about F off with your Evidence only a true professional can really give his true opinion on this subject because he sets foot in an actual ring
Hang on a minute TS... We witnessed 2 rounds of boxing, not a full 12 rounds. For all we know, if this fight went the distance Martinez could well have been weight drained, however, it didn't get to that point. Martinez just completely brutalized Williams instead. You can't base 2 rounds on Martinez conditioning.
I didn't mean the catchweight...I was referring to why Martinez may have won the fight....and it may just so happen to be that Paul is REALLY a WW....if a MW punch touches a WW chin the way Sergio touched Paul's....then its good night.....hope I cleared that up
sergio was 154 champ not long ago and moved up not out of weight issues but because he wanted pavlik
the whole 158 thing was seriously pointless
and this was a term demanded by a guy renouned for "fighting anyone anywhere" and a rematch of a fight he had won
2 lbs.......
after sergio beat pavlik at 160, he said he'd have a hard time going back to 154 that's why he gave up his belt there. sure he can go back to 154 if he wanted to, same way cotto can give up 2lbs under WW, or how margarito who was a WW champ not long ago can make 150 easily.
