Check this out, martinez borrowed his move from pac signature punch:
Pac did it to marquez. It's not just an ordinary overhand.
Pacquiao's punch is a no-look overhand left in one sweeping motion, and by the time he lands that left he is already in the left side of the opponent that's the difference of his overhand. It is all done in one sweeping motion with footwork moving him to the side of his opponent.
*****Pac punch when he fought Marquez and Delahoya.
During the Marquez fight: punch @ 1.37 mark

Delahoya fight: punch @ 0.57 seconds and at 1.06 minute mark

In MMA they call it the Pacquiao punch, now even Martinez is using it. (Proof below mma is calling it The Pacquiao punch)
As I said, I didn't name this punch. UFC fighters named it after PAcquiao. They love Pac in mma.
Not saying Pac invented the overhand lol, It has been there since the birth of boxing, but pac added a new element to it.
It's an unorthodox punch not seen in boxing. even if this posers here thinks it's been done at the beginning of time. Even mma fighters are using it and calling it pacquiao punch. It is a 'no-look' duck chin side move punch. It's an overhand punch but with a no-look side motion to it.
It's really unorthodox punch. Pac patented it. Haters ofcourse won't agree =P
Like I said it's an over hand but this one pac and martinez was doing was a move that was ducking while punching and staying away from the left side of the opponent at the same time they were throwing. It is new.
Look closely there is a technique behind it. If you are the opponent how do you counter that? By the time you react he is at your side, and if ever you try to land you will hit his temple part of the head coz he is in the duckng position and his chin is tucked in hidden from the you to punch. His chin is hiding with that kind of shot. It's a brilliant shot. By the time you react he is beside you and you have to turn in.
And you can check out the Pac's recent fight. It's all there. It's in the Margarito fight. He has been doing it a lot even in the DLH fight. overhand slip to the side chin down. I Just gave the marquez video coz that was the most awesome of them all. But he has been doing it a lot.
It is new move made by pac. Give me a video that some boxer has done this before and post it here. Don't think there is. Been watching boxing far too long. Just post it here, but I'm sure you won't find one. For those who claim there was other boxers aside from martinez and pac who has done this punch. Be my guest and dispute pacquiaos patented punch.
Haven't seen that punch done before only in pac's time. It ain't just an overhand! it is a "NO LOOK" slip to the side overhand punch.
If you guys think Martinez threw a Wild shot, it's like you saying Martinez made a lucky shot. What Martinez did, had technique. It means you can't see the difference between a wild shot and a thing of beauty.
Here is proof of mma fighters naming it 'The Pacquiao punch':

"I knew I had the capability of beating (Kongo) based on what I could do in sparring. It's just something I had to make sure crossed over. It's something we've been saying the whole training camp. We call it "The Pacquiao," because (Manny) will step off as a southpaw and throw the overhand left. As soon as I hit him I went to catch him with the uppercut and I didn't see him, he was on the ground. I charged him a little too aggressively, I should have passed and established the under hook. Instead he was able to rotate and get back to his knees for a takedown which could have been a major mistake on other opponents like Cain (Velasquez) or Shane Carwin. But instead he gave me his neck and I train with Robert Drysdale on a daily basis. If I get someone's neck in the heavyweight division, it's over with."
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir talks about his stunning submission win over Cheick Kongo in the co-main event of "Penn vs. Sanchez at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee, on Saturday, December 12. Mir dropped the hard-hitting Parisian early into the first round, quickly pouncing on his downed foe and choking him out via textbook guillotine. The win could push Mir into a fight against Shane Carwin while Brock Lesnar recuperates on the sidelines after stomach surgery. Anyone have a problem with him facing "The Engineer" -- or does another top flight heavyweight exist for the Las Vegas native to battle?

Penn watched the Nov. 14 boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto while he was in his training camp and decided to try to emulate Pacquiao’s style on Saturday.
“I just like watching Pacquiao and how he throws punches in bunches,” Penn said. “He’s so fast. You might get away from the first two or three, but the two or three that come behind that are going to hit you. I kind of figured that out.”

THE POWER OF "THE PACQUIAO" CROSSES OVER INTO MMA
By Andre Zurbrug | December 13, 2009
How big is Manny Pacquiao? Big enough for other fighters to name a punch after him. Last night, at UFC 107, former heavyweight champion Frank Mir landed a picture-perfect lead straight left that floored his opponent, Chiek Kongo, just 40 seconds into the bout. It was only the second punch that the southpaw heavyweight threw, but it was enough to secure the victory moments later when he locked in the guillotine choke for the submission. Afterwards, Mir revealed that he owed his victory to the power of "The Pacquiao".
"It's something we've been saying the whole training camp. We call it 'The Pacquiao' because Manny Pacquiao will step off as a southpaw and throw the overhand left," Mir told the Daily Telegraph's Gareth A. Davies. "As soon as I hit Kongo I went to catch him with the uppercut and I didn't see him, he was on the ground."
Boxing fans have grown accustomed to seeing the power of "The Pacquiao" on a regular basis. The trademark punch of the Filipino wrecking machine, Pacquiao has rocked and dropped many elite champions, including Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales, by landing his devastating overhand left. Using his speed and angles, Pacquiao confuses his opponents and lands the punch when his opponents least expect it. It's the punch they never and 9 times out of 10, it's the punch that sends them straight to the canvas.
Pacquiaos's influence on UFC / MMA
At UFC 107, the power of "The Pacquiao" was on full display when Mir landed a left hand reminiscent of the left that Pacquiao knocked out Ricky Hatton with. The fact that Mir worked hard in training to emulate Pacquiao's technique is a testament to just how far the Filipino superstar has come. Not only is he an influence in boxing, but he's also an influence in mixed martial arts as well. Applause Applause Applause

It seems UFC fighters are taking notes when it comes to Manny Pacquiao’s incredible hand skills:
Frank Mir, who also fought on the UFC card last weekend (and scored a very impressive submission victory over Cheick Kongo), used one of Pacquiao’s signature punches to set up the choke (via the Telegraph):
Mir, the former UFC heavyweight champion, who strikes from the south paw stance, delivered the same punch Pacquiao hit Ricky Hatton with in May 2009. Mir set the move up in the same way. He feinted to get Kongo moving into the direction of the left punch, and kerpow – the long left landed.
Mir explained: “It’s something we’ve been saying the whole training camp. We call it “The Pacquiao,” because Manny Pacquiao will step off as a southpaw and throw the overhand left. As soon as I hit Kongo I went to catch him with the uppercut and I didn’t see him, he was on the ground.”
