There isnt enough money from sponsors to pay the demands of the fighters....
Plus I am cool with the fights on Sho/HBO because if it was on network tv we would get the corner audio to be censored and we wouldnt even get to see the minute between the rounds.......It would be good for boxing but bad for what we are so accustomed to.
Ya that is the only downside but I would be willing to sacrifice the corner audio! if it brang more exposure to an almost dying sport.
I mean fans have to realize that if boxing has a chance of being mainstream again, it helps out the beloved fighters we so revere. These poor guys get paid chump change compared to these baseball, nba, players....the boxers are actually *****g their life on the line and they get paid scraps, It is sickening if you think of it the promotors treat these fighters like pitbulls and **** and barely give them enough to eat and from the fighters check they have to pay everyone else.
That is why I am for network exposure like the olden times.
More big names more money and millions for fighters.
It cost more than that to put on the event. The card lost money.
If I remember right I predictade it would do 30,000 buy on that how many buys will Rahman/Barret get thread.
Looking over that its obvious that your right. $45? You have to share with the promoter, fighters sometimes, and the cable company that provides the ppv, and they take a ton of the profits. So its much less. The venue didn't look sold out, probably half occupied my guess. Most started leaving after the Mayorga fight if it was fully occupied. Either that or no one stayed for the decesion which it looked like. This fight definetly lost big money. Don King is also ****ed that he lost the purse bid so he now looks like an idiot, and I guess this is what Arum wanted to do by beating him in the purse bid.
