July 26th 2008... Who Woulda Thought...

On July 26th 2008, Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto, the best Welterweights at the time, engaged in a modern day boxing classic; an epic battle of supreme 147 pounders.

A month earlier, Manny Pacquiao made the jump to Lightweight and KO'd David Diaz for the WBC strap. People still questioned his legitimacy as a Lightweight champion.

Who would have thought then, that just a couple of years later Manny would do this to both of them...

    Manny is a MONSTER..

It's amazing what's he's done in his career..anyone who finds the time to hate isn't a boxing fan..

I fell in to the hype at one point and questioned his steroid usage..but the guy works out like a machine!..it's all hard work and dedication as far as I know..and I admire the hell out of him..he's the best fighter of this era..no doubt!..

3 years ago most of the so called experts here favored Juan Diaz to beat him. It's amazing what he did and no one would have predicted this. Not only he was beating these bigger, he's running through them like a buzzsaw.

He's an amazing fighter, surely an ATG at this point.

I never thought he'd get by Oscar; and more recently, I was starting to think Tony might be too big and strong for him. I'll stop doubting Manny from now on.

whats even more impressive looking back now is how Shawn Porter knocked Manny out in sparring for the Cotto fight.

Back then i wouldnt have thought he could do what hes done, not due to his ability just due to his lack of size. After the Cotto win he proved he is a legit welterweight, after the Cotto fight i knew he would steam roll pretty much everyone at 147 except for a few guys.
