Mayweather Sr. was the worst thing for Hatton

Looking back at the Hatton Mayweather fight, Hatton did a great job imposing his bulldog style on mayweather. Thats who Hatton is, his gameplan is to hit and hold, and ruff guys up. Against Pacman, he kinda tried to box, and he dont know how to box when he's been a bulldog his whole career. cant teach an old dog new tricks. The hatton that fought mayweather was 100% confident in ability, the one that fought pacquiao was iffy, especially after the first knockdown.

But Mayweather Sr. said Hatton didn't follow the gameplan so it was his own fault that he lost the fight.

no doubt, but hatton couldn't execute the gameplan effectively anyway. his best bet was to ruff up pacquiao like he woulda did with his old camp. No way he can match pacquio's speed on the outside.

i agree and i've said this before too. a good trainer doesn't change a fighters forte, he molds it more to his benefit.

Snr was actually beneficial to Hatton in the long-term, He wanted to calm Hatton down and make him think, Problem is Hatton isnt a thinker in the ring, He thought he can go in there and bumrush Pac because he's "Bigger than Pac"...........Wrong move..

PAC would kill hatton no matter what

Plus he did try to rough him up and failed miserably

I agree at that time it was ridiculous to bring in a defensive minded trainer. In the long run, yeah he would have been effective in areas, but having Mayweather Sr in your corner for such a short peroid of time before such a tough fight was not a good idea, hes not going to switch up his style and become a different fighter in that period of time, especially whe hes used to just being a face first brawling bulldog for his whole career, he would have been better with Graham still in his corner. The same outcome would have happened though.

And to top it all up, Sr ate all his boast/pre-fight hype and that would have been too much to swallow that's why he declared roidy was on peds.
