I get what you mean and you made some good observations.it could be from a mind set point.the guy has excellent boxing skills and packs a punch.i wish he would unravel completly right now.hes getting older and wants the big fights.but the way he fought saturday was more of a play it safe type of fight.still coming unimpressively to a split decision.things like hobbling away during rounds can cost him.but yes from the mindset view he should improve

Rigo IS that good, he needs a world class trainer to break his amateur habits, now if that's possible, then I guarantee everyone would automatically hop on the Rigo bandwagon. His problem is his mentality not his skills. Does anyone else see this besides me? Lmfao @ him not being skilled or that good, when it's painfully obvious that from his first pro bout to now, it's not his skills but rather his mentality. Now can that be changed is the question. Not if he's skilled or not. I can't believe what I'm reading. But to each their own right? Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is mine which won't be changed.
Thing about Rigo is I swear after he went down, he fought defensive as hell.
I kept thinking maybe he got gun shy or legitimately hurt because you noticed a huge difference in him standing and counterpunching versus using the ring to pick shots.
There's no doubt he's talented, I just wondered a lot after he had that glove touch the canvas.
I mean Bernard Dunne went toe to toe with this guy.Comment

I didnt start the rigondeaux fight, It was round 6 when I saw it already, as I was going to work at that time.
Was not really disappointed but he didnt look good either. I thought he be good as they say, but the kid still young and Im sure he'll improve better.Comment

@ jreckoning and Andy, this is what I'm saying. The guy is world class and you guys made extremely valid points I just believe for example: rigondeaux got hurt, of course and did he start moving away? Of course, but the way he moved away was an obvious amateur way of fighting. Everythig he expressed in the fight was amateur. Where as some considered it running I completely saw it differently, not as in he was scared but as in he much rather secure a win than put in any more work. Similar to vasyl lomachenko at times. All top amateurs do that, rack up points, do the best they can and then coast if things don't Go their way. I believe it's his mentality rather than his skills that need to be changed. In all his fights he expresses this. Why is he trying to be perfect all the time? PInfully obvious he's still stuck in that scoring system state of mind he's not fighting but rather scoring. Sure you guys have valid points, this is just the way I see it.Comment

Rigoneaux was the case of a fighter who wasn't ready to fight for a title but still pulled it out. Reminds me of when Andre Dirrell fought Carl Froch. He needs a couple defenses to come into his own. But yeah, I wanted to stab my eyes in his fight.
Jones came out and obviously wanted to make a statement. The statement he made was that A) he's still relatively inexperienced in long fights and B) he needs to move up to 154. He must be really killing himself to make weight.Comment

Just really disappointed in Rigo. He went from aggressor to a potshotter with just one KD. Speaks much of his heart or maybe a force of habit in his amateur days. And it was just his 7th pro fight. IMO, he may lose to some lower tier but gutsy fighters now. We'll just see how he develops.Comment
