Boxers are not obligated to anyone in that ring but themselves and if an injury or a tremendous beating is taking place there is nothing unhonerable about retiring to save further injury. All I heard all of last week was that Marquez was a quitter despite reports from crediable news sources reporting that he indeed had a a shoulder injury. And for the record I have always defended Cotto's decision and his corners decision not to go on in the fight against Margarito. He has children, he has a family, and he has a wife and as much as I enjoyed watching him get his ass kicked and as much as I dislike PR boxers never not in a million years would I have wanted any perminent/serious injury happen to him. Unlike my other Mexican posters on this board I have never and never will think of Cotto as a quitter or Coward.

I don't think Margarito was ******. He's a fighter and did what he had to do. But I don't think his corner was very wise.
