Has Floyd Been Having Trouble Making 147?

Just wondering what people's take is on this. Not interested in turning this into another pointless PED, Pacquiao, *****/******* b.s. thread- I'm seriously curious.

Floyd took some time off during his first retirement, came back for a catchweight fight with Marquez and came in 3 lbs heavy. A lot of people think it was intentional to have an edge, but Floyd was having some issues with the IRS at that point so giving away almost a million dollars in weight penalty was not a smart business decision. Also, whatever you think about Floyd, when it comes to training and boxing he's a dedicated professional so I doubt he just blew off the CW, I think he just plain couldn't get that low. Plus he looked bigger than usual in the ring (not just because of the smaller Marquez next to him) and refused to be weighed on fight night.

Then he wanted the fight with Manny at 154 instead of the logical 147 limit. I guess having 10 oz gloves was the main motive, but I can't help but think that one of the reasons he doesn't want to fight more than once a year is because making 147 these days is taking a huge toll on his body, which is natural since as you age it becomes increasingly harder to make weight. Freddie Roach even mentioned that he wanted the Margarito fight at 147 but Tony can't make that anymore.

I think the same is happening with Floyd, but he's reluctant to go to 154 because his speed/reflexes might be affected.

Marquez fight he probably did but not for the Mosley, but he does seem pretty big for a welter in the ring now lookin at the Mosley fight...probably weights 155 or 160 at the VERY most

i honestly don't think floyd would have trouble making 147 but if i was him, i would force pac to fight at 154 lbs in nevada so manny couldn't use 8 oz. gloves.

Ok, so then what's your take on why he's only a part time fighter and why he's been looking bigger in the ring as compared to say the Hatton fight? He's fought only twice in 3 years, at the height of his drawing power, and could be making his children's children's children a fortune by fighting twice a year. Pacquiao (obviously), Cotto, Williams, Martinez, Khan... all these fights could make him $20-$50 million each but he'd rather sit out... in his prime... at only age 32?

Obviously something isn't right. Maybe his body is breaking down (used to have serious hand issues), maybe training is taking its toll on his body, or maybe it's just easier to say he's a 'coward', 'ducker', etc but I'm trying to figure out a more logical reason.

              What's your take?

That will be interesting to see,or will be interesting I should say if and when he fights again. But really I don't see 147 a problem for him.

                    I doubt it.

When have you really seen Floyd balloon up in weight?
