I just rewatched both. Pacquiao took way more flush shots and was backed up way more. He rarely caught any flush shots from Margs. He more or less was tired from beating that ass so much

you were watching a different fight it seems. one and two definitely belonged to pacquiao convincingly. he controlled the fight and hit margarito with hard flush shots while margarito was chasing him. even compubox stats illustrate this

i cant recall round 8 so im going to give you the benefit of the doubt there

i also thought cotto did better. ofcourse he did run from pacquiao instead of chasing him like a zombie but he was actually trading with pacquiao while going down both times. cotto was in no less shape than margarito was when the fight got stopped. margarito's only impressive shot was the left hook to the body in the end of the sixth.

I agree. Margs was a statue coming forward too much not using any lateral movement. At least Cotto caught pacquiao with plenty big shots. Cotto is an all around better fighter than margs anyway.

              rematch wise Cotto wins

Margarito rarely caught any flush shots and shouldve been stopped earlier.

If you look at Ledermans card he also had Cotto winning much more than pacquiao.

I mean it was clearly evident of you look at Pacquiao after Margarito and after Cotto. Much more damage was done to pacquiao than Margs. Cotto didnt run he was just boxing. He was still throwing punches, someone like Mayweather who rarely puts out a strong punch count can be considered a runner
cotto went on surival mode.Margarito tried to win the fight till the last
                  round.

I agree Cotto landed more quality punches. But Cotto was deterred fairly easily, and Margarito actually really hurt Pacquiao where Cotto never did.

It's close in terms of who did better. But let's face it, they both got their asses kicked.

Fact, Cotto fought better. Keep in mind, the referee makes a decision to stop a fight. Cotto did not quit, his ref just had less patience. Simple really. Marg fight should have been stopped in the 9-10th round. The fact that Marg's ref let it go to 12 does not mean Margarito was in better condition etc.

Margarito benefits from his height and thus being harder to reach with leverage behind shots. Let's face it, Marg had 1 so so round in which he landed one shot to the body.
