The thing is- for Pacquiao-Clottey, Arum and Jones focused solely on getting people into the stadium, even had promotional tours in Mexico to attract people to the stadium. Had party passes, etc, basically the first fight in the new Stadium was the selling point.
This time around it was more about selling the PPV- 24/7, 60 minutes, commercials, etc. All things Pacquiao-Clottey didn't have. So they had less people in the stadium but presumably more people ordering the fight.
I think people are finally standing up to arum. If he aint fighting floyd, they aint buying. Also take into account that nobody expected margarito to win and the entire world knows about him cheating. For those suggesting the recession had something to do with it, it is "officially over," but we are not getting into that.
maybe arum sees this now, and that is why he says that the next fight will be against a non top rank fighter.
unless bob already knows that the opponent is mosley.
...and i really dont see how they would sell a pacquiao-mosley 24/7. what is the hook?
well, it is a measure relative to expectation. they went back to cowboys stadium and opened up more sections than last time. there is no question that manny's fights are an event in the filipino community. this may signal a shift, a message about the content of the fight, or it may signal nothing at all.
the ppv number will be a good indicator. this fight had a 24/7 and they rolled out all the bells and whistles.
