Comments Thread For: Klitschko's Manager: "Haye, It's 50-50 Across or No Fight!"

Bernd Bönte, who manages heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, advised BoxingScene.com that a fight between David Haye and either Klitschko brother will never happen until the two sides reach an agreement for an even 50-50 split on all of the involved revenue.

If it's 50/50 and no insane rematch clauses I'm confident Haye will take the fight. It would of already happened if Setanta hadn't of gone bust.

Guess the fight isn't getting made cause no way will Haye man up and take that offer or the fight itself.

slightly disingenuous imo. Haye is more than happy to share his sky cash, as long as the Klitschko's are prepared to bring a similar deal to the table. Why would Haye want any part of a business deal that fell some way short of maximising it's potential ? Haye is the one that is going in there and potentially having his head knocked off, I think it's fair enough that he wants to be rewarded as much as possible for that, and for putting his title and boxing status on the line. Haye could lose everything in this fight.

I'm pretty sure that Haye's attitude is the one that would be taken by nearly every other boxer in the sport, should they be fortunate enough to be in Haye's position. It's not like the dude is demanding things so utterly ridiculous that the fight could never possibly happen, he simply wants what he's worth.

Haye doesn't deserve a 50/50 split, but if that's what team Klit are offering, i'm intrigued to hear what Haye has to say to this.

Boente and K2 really should stop admitting that they've got a **** TV deal after years at the top and that the comparative newcomer Haye has a much better one. It makes them sound like amateurs.

Why should Haye pay for their inability to secure a decent TV deal?

Why the hell does Haye deserve 50/50 split in the first place - he's done next to nothing at heavy, with only a close decision against Valuev -
& the Klitchko's bring in big revenue in Europe...

Talking ain't fighting, & we've seen Haye do too much of the former & not of the latter.

Let's see him against Chagaev first, who atleast is reasonably solid, & see how he compares to Wlad's performance.

Haye has always been quite happy to accept a 50-50, across the board split, however, as K2's broadcast fees are so poor, Haye has had to revise his demands to make up for the lack of purse coming in from the K2 side of the promotion. If Haye is bringing 20m to the table, and K2 are only bringing 5m, logic suggests that the individual bringing in the most money would want a larger share of the pie. If K2 want half of the Sky money, then they must negotiate a better deal with RTL or fight more often so that their current deal runs out and they are free to discuss terms with other broadcasters. I would love for Haye to take a hit on his purse to get the fight made, but I can understand his reasons for not doing so.
