Pac should be applauded for bucking the conventional wisdom of today's boxing game that draining weight and dwarfing your opponent is somehow more desirable than being the better fighter.

What's next? A thread talking about what a disgrace Billy Conn was for showing up at 174 pounds against Joe Louis for a Heavyweight Title Fight?
Conn also likely weighed closer to 168 pounds and Louis promised to weigh less than 200 lbs. How horrible.

^ most sensible post in the thread. I happen to think Manny will be more than fine tomorrow night. However, boxing is a dangerous sport and has to be organised with the well-being of its fighters a priority. Only middleweights should be able to fight in a middleweight bout.

        that's fine.

but seriously , criticizing a guy for fighting in a division because he's too small......is just plain dumb.

you're criticizing a guy for fighting at a disdvantage.
Not bulking up and keeping your speed is a disadvantage?

          Yeah no doubt,
I find it funny, Pac is coming in lighter, he's giving up his height and reach advantage on top of that.

Most people who watch the fight don't care to much about the title it will just sound good on his resume.

What is more impressive is a much smaller man beating a much bigger one.

Be impressed that he's got the balls to step in the ring with a much bigger guy.
I can't say the same for most of the ppl on this board.

I wasn't around in Henry Armstrong's era so I'd like to know from the boxinscene experts.
              There was not a catch-weight.

But, people right now are not complaining about the catch-weight.

They're complaining that Pac weighed in at 144. Which is ****** thing to complain about.

To complain about the catch-weight, fine I can see. To complain about Pac weighing in at 144 is idiotic.

                You guys are lost.
Because its 10 whole pounds from the division he's allegedly trying to win a title in. Its rubbing in the fact that HE can fight for a title at 154 while being nowhere near 154 and forcing his opponent to come in at a catchweight.

I'm not worried about the "over"... the advantage he has is that he can easily make the under and forces the other guy to make some weight he normally doesn't make.

                Look at the Cotto fight.

I dont understand this at all

its not as if he's fighting the guy that weighs as much as he is which is 144 for a 154 title. that i can call a BS fight

he's fighting a guy that weights 10 lbs heavier than he is and at 150 at that

last time i check, catch weights apply to weight maximum not minimum.

if this is a gimick to hate, just stop because you're making this forum dumber than it already is

There are some ****** people in this thread. People hating on Pac cuz he came in a lot lighter than we thought. There's no weight minimum to come into a fight and Pac coming in at 144.6 lbs is more of a disadvantage to him. Pac will get more praise if he KO/TKO Margarito considering how small he is.
