That's what the problem is with this fight. Why should you be able to fight for a vacant title in a division that you've never fought at before, let alone even weighed in within the actual fighting weight.
If Margarito was the defending champion then it would be a legit title fight. But he's not.

go ahead.
if you want to say margarito is not deserving of a fight and others are more?
that's fine.
but seriously , criticizing a guy for fighting in a division because he's too small......is just plain dumb.
you're criticizing a guy for fighting at a disdvantage.
really like WTF is wrong with these people?

You guys are lost.
If your telling me that when you found out that he weighed in at 144.6 you didn't even cringe a little?
Im a huge pac fan remember that, but when something is wrong you gotta call it out.
Why didnt he just make it a WW fight?

I wasn't around in Henry Armstrong's era so I'd like to know from the boxinscene experts.
that's not the issue here though.
Originally posted by 2Fast View Postbut there is also lower limit and upper limit. So limit could mean minimum and maximum. Just saying.
It doesn't mather though, Margaritto isnt allowed to weigh 154 pounds so this isn't really a light middleweight title fight
in the history of boxing.......there is a limit to the maximum you can weigh. never a minimum. period.

Good thing for Conn and Louis there was no internet back then to expose them to the world.

i totally dont see the problem with that...pac should be allowed to weigh anything under the limit, thats his choice. had this not been a fake title fight at a catch weight, i would actually applaud pac. but he chose to fight for a 154 paper title and he chose to make margo come in at 150(for good reason too).
without the catch weight margo would have weighed in at at least 160 on fight night!!!crazy son.

But, people right now are not complaining about the catch-weight.
They're complaining that Pac weighed in at 144. Which is ****** thing to complain about.
To complain about the catch-weight, fine I can see. To complain about Pac weighing in at 144 is idiotic.
The thread starter is complaining that Pacquiao not bulking up and keeping his speed is unfair, but I don't see how that can be considered as "cheating". As said, there are no limits to how little you can weigh, only to how much.

I don't get why the hate on Pac, when he's obviously the one taking a chance here. If Pac wins, I give him kudos for being courageous in fighting a bigger man, not his title. If he losses, then I would say that he deserved to lose since he's way out of his league size-wise. But win or lose, you have to admit the dude has balls.
