By that logic what your saying is that if Pac can challenge Andre Ward for his SMW title (which is 168 max) at a contracted weight limit of 160 and on the day of weigh in Andre weighs at 160 , but Pac will weigh in at 147 ffs. Does that make it right? Is it a SMW fight? hell ****ing no.
Manny Pacquiao is a disgrace to this sport....

there is no "all in one" there are 2 arguments in this thread:you got it all wrong. I'm not complaining or whining about the weights. People wanted to compare this fight to one of Henry Armstrong's. So I asked the question of whether or not Armstrong made his opponent cut weight in their fight.
As far as Pac's weight coming in.. Hell, you could say he didn't wanna add lbs simply because it'll slow him down if he does. So all in all, this catchweight or "minimal" weight issue is all in one.
a) catchweight - yes, one can argue the validity of this.
b) minimum weight - there is no such thing. if you really want to argue about this, it just means you were ignorant about the absence of a rule that supports it... or just baiting.
basically, when you start debating about these stuffs, even when you lump them with one another, b loses its significance since it doesn't hold any weight to begin with.Comment

So is that what is happening? Marg is being forced to fight for a 154lbs title that he has at 150lbs? Did the commission put this in or did Pacquiao? That is not the 154lbs title if the maximum weight is 150...obviously...and if that is what is happening then to hell with Pac, goes against all logic and good in boxing...By that logic what your saying is that if Pac can challenge Andre Ward for his SMW title (which is 168 max) at a contracted weight limit of 160 and on the day of weigh in Andre weighs at 160 , but Pac will weigh in at 147 ffs. I mean seriously man, 2lbs can ruin you come fight night. But having to weigh in at 4 or 5 lbs under your natural fighting weight is just insane, and potentially dangerous. **** if Wladimir Klitschko had to lose to much weight, like down to 170, ****ing Diego Corrales would KTFO him at 135ish if he didn't die first...Weight drain kills a fighter, short and long term.Comment

This is pretty funny.
Bleh. The only issue I have with this fight is the title. Have the catchweight, or the title, but not both. He can come in at whatever weight he wants to, but Margarito shouldn't be punished for it(If you could call it punihment)Comment

yeah, coz after the first time, it's smooth sailingComment

yes mutha****er. there is no minimum weight. if an ABC sanctioning body wants, they could've have JML vs Rafa for their super middlweight belt. however, there are plenty of worthy super middleweights that deserve to fight for the title.
in general, most sanctioning bodies would not do something like this. that's what there job is. the WBC, though, are a bunch of leeches and decided they wanted to give their 154 lbs belt to 2 welterweights.Does that make it right?
no, not really. but according to the rules of boxing, it's possible, not that I condone it.Is it a SMW fight? hell ****ing no.Comment
