cause lopez is a featherweight and JMM doesn't want to seem like he's cherrypicking featherweights. in the interests of making the fight more fair and competitive, jmm might want to offer jml a catchweight, seeing as jml is asking for the fight at 130 lbs.

I see what you are saying about the cherry picking but like I said before, Marquez is not asking for the fight. Unless I missed something... If Lopez thinks he can challenge Marquez let him do it on Marquez territory.

I honestly believe that JMM can still make 130 lbs but not easily (hence the catchweight). JMM is a small 135 lber.

Now,
if the fight were to happen at a catchweight, Marquez can make 133 just like in the second Diaz fight.

Then why didn't JMM fight Khan???!!! It's obvious that JMM don't want none of that action at 140 lbs... atleast not against anyone nearly as good as Khan/Bradley/Alexander and maybe even maidana.

He knows he has some fight left in him, and I suppose he will wait until the very end to try a 140 title shot.

like I said, JML is a featherweight. I'm convinced JMM can win this fight and collect a big check. the catchweight is just to entice JML to get in the ring. you have to give a little to get alot.

I guess it is up to Marquez to see how much he gives in.

That's only if he fights him at 135 maybe, and he is demanding something else. And Caballero and Gamboa are better fights in my opinion because if Juan Ma beat them nobody could discredit the wins. He beats Marquez people can still say he beat a 38 year old fighter who was weight drained or whatever.

According to most of the P4P lists that I come across, including the one on this site, JMM is better than any featherweight out there. So I think its awesome that Juanma is wanting to test himself against the best. My only issue is him wanting JMM to weaken himself in order to do so. Along with being one of the best five fighters in the world P4P, JMM is the lightweight champion. If this is what Juanma wants, go up and challenge the guy for his lightweight title. And if Juanma isn't willing to do that, there's a long list of featherweights like Gamboa, John, Caballero, and "Mikey" Garcia that he can keep himself busy with for the next couple years.

JMM moved up 2 divisions in one fight to challenge Mayweather who's boxing's best (along with PAC). JuanMa can do it too and meet Juanma at 135

read the article. Juanma called out JMM. Juanma said that it would be a good fight in September. That is Juanma Lopez's quotes. JuanMa Marquez's 10th best win is better than Lopez's best win. Lopez doesn't have the resume to dictate anything let alone try to weight drain Marquez. They fight at 135 or it isn't happening. If Pac can jump two weight classes to fight De la Hoya or Hopkins can jump two weight classes to fight Tarver or Sonosa can jump two weight classes to fight for a pathetic paper vacant belt versus WV2 then Juanma Lopez can jump 2 weight classes to fight Marquez period.

Marquez's resume speaks for itself. Lopez at this point has what, a win over an over the hill former great in Rafa and a win over a decent champion in De Leon? He beat a mediocre Concepcion and mediocre champ in Luevano and almost lost to Mtagwa. What win that group would rate in Marquez's top 10 wins? ZERO! exactly!

that being said Top Rank wouldn't send Juanma up to get ko'd by a Golden Boy fighter.

Ur right, totally misread the article! and Ur right, JMM body of work is stellar, absolutely no arguments from me here as to that issue. But the overall point that I was trying to make is that Juanma needs to step up and fight Cab and Gamboa. as to top rank and gbp, ruining boxing for us ,the fans!!

jmm knows he can't hang at 140 lbs with the big boys. if he's smart, he'll cherrypick a title and claim himself the first mexican to have 4 belts in 4 different divisions. like I said, jmm is a small lightweight, he's an even smaller jr WW.
