      ...

Marquez appeared to reach stardom in May 2004 when he rallied from three first-round knockdowns to retain his titles in a draw with Pacquiao in a sensational action fight.

HBO, which televised the fight, loved it so much they asked for a rematch, and Top Rank began working on it. But Marquez rejected a career-high $750,000 for the fight, asking instead for $1.5 million -- the entire license fee that HBO had offered for the rematch.

Then, following Marquez's easy decision victory against Victor Polo on May 7, duBoef said Top Rank offered Marquez $1.5 million to fight Erik Morales this fall on HBO PPV. DuBoef said the Marquez camp asked for $3.5 million, a figure even the popular Morales has never been guaranteed for a fight.

      ...

And some fools try to call Marquez "The Avoided One", LMAO.

I agree with you his manager did **** him over, damn I really think he is just waiting to end his current contract so that he could start to challange fighters left and right, every body knows that Morales will fight anybody at any time so if he does call out Morales the fight will for sure be made. It sucks that a fighter with that much talent can be managed like that!!!!

I met JMM and his greasy manager in Vegas at the Barrera-Morales rematch, Marquez was a cool cat who shook hands with me and my fraternity bro's, & even though he couldn't speak a word of Ingles he was very cordial and friendly....

his manager, on the other hand, was a ****** ***** who tried to keep his guy away from me, my buddies, and the other fans in the area. Nacho Cheeze Beristein should be banned from boxing, he is continuously hurting the rep of his best fighter, and for what? For $$$ for himself...it's ridiculous, but we can't feel bad for JMM because he could have dumped Nacho Cheeze years ago, and now he's losing title belts for it

I cannot respect Marquez. He pulls out of a rematch with Pacquiao, expecting MORE money? You gotta be kidding me.
