You know George Foreman winning the title at 45 was great for boxing in a way but also really really bad.No every fighter think they could keep boxing into their 40's and win the title again because Foreman did.Foreman didn't really get hit much at all in his prime so when he came back 10 years after his first retirement his body was still fresh.Holyfield isn't Foreman he doesnt have the chin Foreman did or the punch.
Another reason i think boxers keep trying to make comebacks is because they watch some guy box and they will say you know i could beat him which maybe they could in their primes but they can't grasp that their primes are gone.It may seem like yesterday they were the champion of the world and that they were great atheletes but the human body ages so fast in just a few years you go from being a top athelete to a older slower weaker version of yourself.
Holyfield should just give it up.He will never be champion again. If he still wants to be apart of boxing he could be a trainer or do tv work. But his days of being a top boxer are over.

they had a special about this on hbo real sports and everybody seems to think that evander should not fight anymore the only one that thinks he still can is him i belive he split with his trainer and management team over this they asked him if he was doing it for money and he said no , i am not sure about his financial status but i know he has made millions but they were talking about his 15,000 sq. feet mansion which is on a 105 acres !!! i am sure it takes up in the hundred thousands a month for the up keep ...i also belive that the ny commision is doing the right thing by saving his life they don't want him to end up like taylor or ali , but sadly this is were he is headed the signs are allready there compare his speech 15 yrs. ago to know and tell me if its the same ..also on fnf teddy atlas was talking about a new system thst will be in place to determine if a liscence should be granted to a fighter or if a fighter is a high risk it goes on a grade and point system based on things like rnds. fought and fights per yr. and a couple of more things but i think it is good for boxing and the fighters if they don't know when to quit the decision should be made for them ..

he doesnt need the money, he's about the only boxer still getting endorsements and mainstream attention, a lot of people watched the dance show.

Also, the only way his team gets paid is if hes still fighting, they might be the only ones encouraging him to fight

that's because you're an ignorant **** who, in the heat of the fight, while yelling 'HIT THAT MOTHER****ER AGAIN' spilling beer all over the person next to you, you fail to realize that a man can only take so much punishment. and even though he looks in shape and etc, if you would simply watch previous fights of evander you will see that he is a totally different fighter in terms of skill, back then he was legendary, now his skills are diminished. you have to understand that regardless of what some test says, when a man shows everyone what holyfield has showed them, (dilapidated speech, gimped skills in the ring) it's time to remember the greats people never did it for like ali and tunney, guys who fought til they couldnt act proper anymore because nobody was there to put their foot down and say, hey, you were a great champion, but every train has it's destination and as a fighter you have ran out of steam, it's time to hang em up.

He should have retired many years ago, but if he wants to keep fighting, let him get more blows to the head, but he shouldn't be forced to not fight or be banned. It's HIS decision to do what he wants.

People keep saying Holy should be allowed to fight to earn a living. What about being able to make a living AFTER boxing? What can he do if he is a vegetable? If Holy doesn't have a little money socked away from all those fights, a few more fights ain't going to help.

It's his life and he should be able to do what he wants is another line bantied about. If you sit in your driveway and beat yourself in the head with a hammer, eventually you will be taken away FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

Remember, the state commissions are there to PROTECT the fighters. Now they don't always do right, but when they do as in this case, we should support them wholeheartedly. Granted the commissions have a LOONNGG way to go in protecting fighters but maybe this is a good first step.

Boxing isn't supposed to be like the roman gladiators where it is a fight to the death. Holy accomplished more than most and made more than most in the ring. He is a solid top ten alltime fighter. If he wants to commit suicide or do irreparable damage to himself let it be away from boxing. I wish him the best and hoping he comes to his senses.

As I've posted before, I agree with Tommy, Foreman's win at 45 was great and not so great for boxing. Now everyone thinks they can do it, when in the 100+ yrs of boxing history, it has only happened once.
