Cotto went down during a round, while taking punches (plaster-filled punches). Marquez quit while on a break, while sitting down; just like De La Hoya.

Calderun bowed down to his master Segura. Rafael had a broken shoulder and still managed to put Juanmaricon on ***** street before Weeks had to save the typical glass jawed puerto rican.

Man, to everyone here saying that PR or Mexican boxers quit or dont quit, STFU already!! If you know boxing history "BOTH" nationalities had boxers that quit in their stools and had those warriors who would fight to the end. So shut ya'll mouth with the back and forth bickering cause it makes "YOU" look like the ******* here.

JuanMa was the better stronger fighter. Rafael Marquez is still a dangerous opponent. I have no doubt that Marquez shoulder was hurt before the fight. But he did quit and use it as an excuse to get out the fight. Once JuanMa adjusted and started whopping him he knew he had a legit excuse to get out the fight. I don't think any less of Rafa for getting out the fight. He fought hard and took a lot of shots.

          As for the fouling:

Rafa kept ducking his head and that angle was difficult for JuanMa to negotiate...So he was asking Weeks to break them...when Weeks didn't he just swung and at times Marquez was hit behind the head....Later in the fight JuanMa threw uppercuts when Marquez duck his head to avoid being penalized.

Marquez took a lot of shots...maybe he should call out Caballero.

          JuanMa impressed me alot.

          He shows he's resilient
He was able to adjust during the fight
          He showed great stamina

He needs to work on his defense while he's being offensive.
He does not have the best chin but it aint the worst

they both complained wayy too much that night.
& true, Lopez was fighting dirty by holding and hitting and also bringing Marquez's head down but Marquez kept being a ***** and jamming it into his scrotum as to try and give Juanma head.
last I recall that wasn't legal in boxing either.

TO be fair though Mexicans are Bad ass warriors in the ring to the very end except for Chavez, DLH, Morales, Marquez, Vazquez, Ortiz etc etc..

I guess they wanted to be warriors but each had their limit and were exposed as punks trying to act like Rocky.

marquez did take alot of shots to the neck but thats only cuz he kept leaning so far forward.. he put himself in position to get hit in the neck. as far as the pushing down on his head, that was dirty but the whole getting hit in the neck ish is marquez's fault.. just like its allan greens fault he got punched in the ear.

He is still angry with referee Tony Weeks for stopping the action in the fourth round, when Juanma was hurt. Weeks stopped the action to take a point away from Juanma for hitting Marquez on the break. Marquez thinks Juanma is a dirty fighter and says Israel Vazquez is the harder puncher between the two.

Sucks I had to catch the replay but Marquez did a lot better than I thought he would. He's not exactly at the peak of his career and the wars with Vasquez were dynamic in their own right. I thought for sure Lopez was going to walk right though him. But Lopez couldn't handle the little that Marquez was able to show him. I'm just shocked Marquez didn't get laid out at this point of his career.

But the fouls were really minor and the only reason Lopez was holding his head and punching was because Marquez was getting to Lopez. As for a rematch I don't think Marquez has the stamina anymore. Ever since the first fight with Silence Mabuza Marquez has started to fade faster in his fights. After the halfway point Marquez always looks out on his feet or close to it.

But they say the last thing to leave a fighter is his power and ability to throw a hard punch and Marquez always shows that early in his fights which will always make things interesting. Either way, with the career that Marquez has had he still managed to make this fight interesting.
