The Nate Campbell fight was never going to happen.

That was more Golden Boy trying to hype up Campbell who they just had signed at the time.

And, it was all cuz of a "no comment" remark from Schafer.

However, the Malignaggi fight was going to happen on March 13 before Berto pulled out. Credit to Floyd for not going through with the Paulie fight and instead take the best WW when it was available.

But, lets not pretend that Paulie wasn't seriously considered back then. MGM had booked the March 13 date for that fight.

Saying all that, it is safe to say that this article is BS, it really has no credibility.

The Malignaggi fight was as credible as the Campbell fight. Lest we forget, Malignaggi was discussed for Pacquiao too. Both weren't credible. The MGM Grand had booked a Mayweather fight (any Mayweather fight) for March 13 - not a Malignaggi fight. But anyway, you're right. The fact that this thread has gone this long? Christ..

OK, granted I can see that cuz Paulie had 2 fights with Juan Diaz(GBP fighter) prior to being linked to Floyd, and an another after against Khan before signing with Golden Boy.

But, in the bold wouldn't that mean that they were serious in making that fight then? That he tried to push Floyd to fight Paulie? More so than Campbell or Canelo or Hatton or Cintron or whoever else was mentioned at the time?

As far as I know no other opponent was mentioned to Richard Sturm other than Malignaggi at the time. And, my whole point that Malignaggi was the lead candidate for the March 13 date. Or are you saying there is no March 13 date at all?

That was until Berto pulled out, and credit to Floyd when he saw the opportunity he jumped up and signed to fight Shane.
