Mexicans do not be mad. Peutro Ricans should not take too much from this victory.

I think you mean 1 prime warrior and 1 cheaterMarquez is a warrior but he is old. He was two weight classes, about 10 wars and around 8 years past his best on Saturday.
I'm a neutral observer from England and think Puerto Ricans should not make too much out of this victory. JuanMa was simply much too young, fresh and big for Marquez.
Still, Marquez gave a valiant showing and had JuanMa in serious trouble in round 4 but just wasn't big enough to finish the job (Marquez was a very good puncher at his good weight and age).
If Mexicans want to see JuanMa get destroyed then tune in when he finally mans up and fights Gamboa or Caballero. Gamboa is so fast he'll have JuanMa stretched in 5 (JuanMa has a dodgy chin) and Caballero will give him a career ending beating.
Remember, this was no Cotto v Margarito (two prime warriors) but an Arum backed mis-match simply to build JuanMa.Comment

nah don't bite
this was a great win no matter how you slice it.
is Rafa old? yeah I think it's safe to say Rafa is not prime anymore
is Rafa fighting divisions past his best? I find that debatable considering his run at 122 was essentially 3 of the best fights we have seen in the 2000s.
what I think people are trying to hide is that for all the things going against Rafa the one thing you could not count on was that he wasn't about to be bested by a young lion ready to take another notch in the rivalry and Rafa fought like it.
I know I took it for granted and left out his heart when discussing whether he could win.
so this win counts big time to me because while Rafa may not have been in prime I would put this Rafa against any fighter at 126 and think he does wellComment

Not really. Calderón is a young 35 for boxing, doesn't have a Legacy of bruising encounters that left him shopworn, wasn't considered far over the hill and was favored to school Segura IIRC.
Giovanni was just too intense for him.
I didn't and that's why I thought he could win. I counted on that indomitability, having not seen anything in his last 3 fights to indicate that it wasn't still there. That's more a credit to Rafa than to Lopez, though - Lopez was the one with the prime age, natural size and big weaponry in his favor.
Furthermore, now that it's been disclosed that Rafa was fighting with an injury, that's also why I want to see a rematch with a fully fit Marquez in there. He deserves a second shot at adding another impressive feat to his record.Comment

There you go with the name calling and then you dare to ask if I'm 5 years old. When somebody doesn't have anything else to say they retort to cursing like your dumb ass just did. I read your past post and I can see that you are biased against purtorrican so you cannot have a good asses of what is going on. Feel bad for you my brother. P.S. more than likely I've been a fan of the sport longer than you ever hadComment
