Marquez is a warrior but he is old. He was two weight classes, about 10 wars and around 8 years past his best on Saturday.

I'm a neutral observer from England and think Puerto Ricans should not make too much out of this victory. JuanMa was simply much too young, fresh and big for Marquez.

Still, Marquez gave a valiant showing and had JuanMa in serious trouble in round 4 but just wasn't big enough to finish the job (Marquez was a very good puncher at his good weight and age).

If Mexicans want to see JuanMa get destroyed then tune in when he finally mans up and fights Gamboa or Caballero. Gamboa is so fast he'll have JuanMa stretched in 5 (JuanMa has a dodgy chin) and Caballero will give him a career ending beating.

Remember, this was no Cotto v Margarito (two prime warriors) but an Arum backed mis-match simply to build JuanMa.

I agree that Rafa was passed his best but Gamboa is not gonna beat JuanMa, man. Gamboa makes too many mistakes. Caballero on the other hand will be a more competitive fight.

Yeah but if Marquez would had won it would had been a great victory for Mexico. Great fight and you just discredited both fighters, some boxing fan you are

I have Gamboa beating Juanma, but tbh they both have enough holes in their defense where either guy could get KTFO. I'm only going with Gamboa because I think he'll land flush first due to his speed.

How have I discredited both fighters? It was a pretty good fight for some of the rounds but anyone with an once of boxing experience could see Marquez was too weak after round 4 to do JuanMa any damage.

If Marquez had won of course it would have been a great victory for Mexico... just the same as if Gary Locket had pulverised Pavlik it would have been a great victory for the UK over the USA....

Of course, because he would have overcome so many obvious obstacles. Isn't that obvious to you?

lol, Wazza you have too much of an obsession with fighters 'making mistakes'. The best fighter in the world (Pacuqiao... not Khan lol) makes tonnes of 'mistakes' that you wouldn't see in any book on boxing.

Gamboa is lightnight fast and punches extremely well. JuanMa has almost been KOed in 3 fights running.

Then exactly the same could be said for Segura's win over Calderon.
