I would look for an advertising blitz this week. Arum knows that since people don't buy PPV's in advance, there is no pointing spending the money early. The hype will be turned on late and will be fresh in peoples minds when it is time to order the fight. No matter what you think of Arum/Top Rank, you have to concede that they know how to promote a PPV correctly.

I don't think it works like that though, people don't buy tickets to movies in advance yet they start the commeercials months in advance.

To me you always follow the rule of three, people need to see something three times to be really aware and if you start the push a week before hand tough to say if they will get three views in that frame.

To Arum I don't know if it is orth it to pull out all the stops if you can get 800k doing the minimum, since pulling out the stops costs money. 200k would be like 10 or 11 million in revenue but how much of that would Top Rank be seeing.

mexican fans are the biggest ain the world for boxing so arum is expecting mexicans to show up just because their love for the sport, arum always said that mexicans are the best boxing fans and i think arum is putting his money on that as a reason of so very crappy promotion, lol, nyahahahahaha

I don' ; t connaissent quel Arum favorise, j'ont voir encore un film publicitaire à la TV, là devrait au moins en être sur SPORTCENTER. Je vais au raseur-coiffeur la plupart des didn' ; t ont un indice, heureusement j'ai révélé et leur ai dit au sujet des grands combats ces deux mois.
J'ai pensé que ce serait environ 1.2 million d'achats, mais plus que je vois le manque de promotion, plus mes les nombres tendent à se laisser tomber. Que des types pensez-vous ?

I think a lot has to do with the fight being in Texas.


If they were fighting in Vegas, or in New York, then it would be bigger.

Has nothing to do with it being in Texas. If anything, they should promote it just as much since they're fighting in a new stadium that can fill up to 60,000+ seats if promoted right.

Hell Texas has a big base of mexican people and a lot of asians, especially in the city of Arlington. I don't understand why we're not hearing about this fight at all to be honest. Just the other day on ESPN radio they were interviewing Zab Judah for his fight and they were even talking Floyd and not Manny for whatever reason. Makes no sense at all

i recieved a postcard from verizon which was basically a small poster of the pac-marg fight. It was just a reminder for me to purchase the fight..funny thing is that my neighbor (who isn't a boxing fan) did not recieve one..I thought the cards were to be distributed to the whole neighborhood..

I also don't remember the Marg-Cotto fight having any real promotion other than the 24/7 show, but still did pretty well.

And finally i think Arum does know that mexicans will support mexicans in big fights, since the other mexicans i do speak to bring up the fight on a daily basis.

nah, it does suck...i've seen no more commercials, posters, and advertisements for this fight, than i did for pacquiao-clottey.


this time, i can't put all the blame on arum, it's time for both sides to step up and make the fight everyone wants.
