If this turns into a boxing match, we'll see pretty quick who "works off the jab" better. Rafa is the master here, lets not get it twisted.

Lopez can't outbox him if he wanted to, his best hope is to catch him with something and impose his youth and size on him.

If this goes 12 it will be a wide U.D for Rafa where Lopez takes a career shortening beating.

And for the record, Lopez hasn't fought very good opponents. Outside of his blatant duck of Caba, his best win is an old Penalosa and a green and one dimensional Ponce.

Some might point to Luevano, but Luevano was so weak and pasty that it makes me laugh.

Penalosa, while smaller, De Leon, Concepcion and Luevano are all quality fighters and Juanma stopped them all. Yes Rafa is better than all the names just listed, but he is also smaller (naturally) and past his prime at 35 years old. Rafa must use his experience and take it to the late rounds. He should not get in a firefight early.

If Rafa survives the first 5 rounds I see this an ugly fight for Juanma because he doesn't have the best conditioning, while Rafa has proven to be excellent conditioned for every fight. This a true test for Juanma if he beats Rafa he answers a lot of questions, if he knocks him out late then he shows he's the goods, if he lands a good shot early he won't answer any questions especially since Rafa is a fighter that likes to start out slow, and most of his knockout losses has happened before the 6th round. Can't wait for tommorow.

          I agree on the strategy.

though I don't think that favors Marquez at all.

Lopez is far more dangerous when he picks his spots and works off the jab.

Hes only vulnerable when he exchanges and goes into volume punching mode.

Like the Penalosa and Mtgwa fights.

Marquez will have to draw him into exchanges ala the Tim Austin fight.
The reason Austin went into exchange mode is because Rafa was outboxing him. Neither him nor Johnson could consistently hit him clean. They found out that their success came when they became more aggressive and let their hands go.

The problem was that their aggressiveness played into Marquez hands. Master boxing southpaws the caliber of Johnson and Austin weren't effective boxing the man, so they felt the had to turn to aggressiveness the same will happen in this fight. All Marquez has to do is avoid getting hit by that straight left, right hook combination. Rafa will move into the next echelon with this fight and make a lot of people look and feel ******.

I don't know where you get that about Concepcion. He looked pretty ****e to me.

Lets not bring up Mtagwa either.

Yeah yeah, i know, Juanma was weight drained.

The only thing that concerns me is his age and wear and tear. Like I've said before if this was prime for prime this would be an absolute lock.

Concepcion is average, he shouldn't have troubled Lopez at all when you look at the surface, the technical disparities and the attributes that seperate them. Fact is, Juanma somehow managed to look vulnerable even while dominating a fight.

The people who seem to think Juanma is going to walk through Marquez must be banking on Rafa being totally shot. If Rafa is even 75% of his best, he hurts and stops Lopez IMO.

                      Rafa KO7.

I don't see what so many people see with Lopez. Marquez is not that far gone, and he is just too sharp a puncher for Lopez.
