Rafa needs to avoid Juanma's early power onslaught

If he can make it through the first 3 rounds without taking Juanma's early bombs, he stands a better chance to take the Rican out late. Juanma throws with a lot of power and appears to tire late in fights. Rafa needs to box him early, take him into deep water and drown him late. If he survives the early rounds, he takes Juanma out between 8 -10.

So you think Juanma's just gonna go in there and throw everything at him right away and try to take his head off??

Juanma likes to take dude's out early. Look at Ponce De Leon, Concepcion... before the Mtagwa fight, he had three first round KOs. It wouldn't be wise for Rafa to get lured into an early round brawl with the kid.

He's also fought a lot of bums. If he tries this with Rafa he will get lit up.

My guess is that he's gonna box and take it slow for the first 5 rounds, which will only help Rafa since Rafa's the master boxer.

Juanma's got some serious power, and he throws with a lot of force. Rafa needs to let him use up that energy in the first few rounds, then turn the heat up on the kid after the sixth.

JaunMa has fought a lot of solid competition in his young career.

              I agree on the strategy.

though I don't think that favors Marquez at all.

Lopez is far more dangerous when he picks his spots and works off the jab.

Hes only vulnerable when he exchanges and goes into volume punching mode.

Like the Penalosa and Mtgwa fights.

Marquez will have to draw him into exchanges ala the Tim Austin fight.

I agree with the bold, but not in the early rounds... It will have to be after Juanma has expended some of his early power shot energy. He's extremely dangerous early.

                  I agree whole heartily.

But there's so much power between the two.

I can't see it getting into the later rounds.
