    Pacquiao vs Margarito

In assessing this fight I think Marg may actually have a chance, if its a "legitimate" fight. Looking back at Marg versus Mosley, Shane was able to back Marg up largely because of his physical strength not just his speed. IMO Pac doesn't have Shane's strength or power. I've been thinking about this lately and I think that Pac's only advantage in this fight is speed, it's a big advantage but will it be enough? I think people are also underestimating Pac's height disadvantage. In looking at another Margarito loss against Williams Paul is taller and longer than Marg. I think it's going to be harder for Pac to find his range against Marg due to his big reach disadvantage than people think. I could see Marg walking Pac down and forcing him to fight going backwards. Will Pac tag Marg? Of course but I see Marg walking right through Pac's shots. Another variable in this fight is Margarito's hunger. The last time Marg had an opportunity like this was against Cotto, although that win is tainted I see Marg coming out just as hard this time around. I think there's a bigger chance at an upset than most think. Am I crazy? Lol

My assessment is almost identical,Pacman isn't that hard to hit!!Margarito is tougher than Cotto,he throws 10 times as much as Clottey,he is bigger,I believe he's stronger too!!Pacman is fast but he can be lured into a sluggfest!!People see what Mosley did & for some reason assume Pacman can,but Mosley is much stronger, that's just how it is!!

Footspeed, head movement, angles, timing etc. I don't see much more advantages for Margarito other than size and strength.

Hes not hard to hit at all, its easy to hit, but Margarto is so slow. The one thing i see is to stop Margarito being effective clinching is the key, Mosley clinced the hell out of him, Williams was alos effective with clinch, and of course clinching is something Manny never does. There will be times Margarito will corner and land some good shots but rarely in my opinion, Mannys to fast on his feet he will land shots and get away from him and do it over and over again i cant see Margarito having an answer for Pacqiuao footspeed mainly. Maybe in 2006 he would have a better shot but i'd still lean on Pacqiauo then.

These are all sound points, but against Margarito, footspeed isn't gonna really matter because Pacman isn't backing Margarito up!!He moves his head, but at the same time Pacman get hit a lot!!Angles & timing are the real advantages, but how well is all of this gonna work if Margarito is backing him up??

You've got to remember this isnt the same guy from 2006, i see Manny landing shots and moving to Margarito's left and getting off all night, hes so slow hes not going to be able to mount an offense effectivly.

IMO all of those variables are due to Pac's speed. Speed just doesn't apply to hand speed and foot speed. When people say that Pac uses weird angles I really don't agree. Pac simply throws combinations with in and out movement and stepping to the side. I really think it's more of Pac being really fast than using timing. To me an example of a fighter with great timing is JMM. It's also debatable that Marg has better punching power than Pac, especially at this weight.

The same physical strength that couldn't make a dent in Cotto, Collazo, Cruz, Wright, DLH, etc etc etc and about 20 others?

Mosley was very very strong at lighter weights but his knockout percentage at higher weights is average if anything.
